Hello everybody,

I got a very nice skin when I was using a retinol product and also using a regular liquid foundation. But now that I am using RETINA A with Obagi Nuderm, my face will be red when I use my liquid foundation which I loved. Has this happened to any of you ladies? I tried the Amazing Cosmetics(Velvet Mineral Foundation)but does not give a nice coverage and also dries up my skin.

Would like to hear what liquid foundation do you use when on RETINA A?

It has never occurred to me to wear make-up on top of Retinol, but if I was crushed for time and it is already dark outside, I would wear a brighter colour lipstick or lipgloss, mascara and maybe some blush. I would never apply retinol before I have an evening out.

I've heard good things about DermaciaMD with Lycogel.

My face was perpetually red when I was on Retin-A (for acne).

You can try putting a color corrector on before putting on foundation.
It should take the redness out of your skin. (I think green tones down redness, but you'd better double check)

I was too lazy to do that, and used Prescriptives foundation, either their
oil-free formula, or the 'virtual skin' formula, which has sunscreen in it.
Good coverage, and didn't cause breakouts.

(At the time, Prescriptives was one of the few foundations that were recommended by dermatologists)

That's really expensive! I don't think I could justify spending that amount of money on foundation...lol.....

Benefit Cosmetics has lots of great products to correct redness and they are pretty much all under $30.

If you peel it's better not to use any foundation as it makes the dry patches more visible. When I start peeling from Retin A I only use Cle de Peau concealer on my face where needed to cover the redness, but not on the dry areas.

I use retinA regularly and I have quite a bit of redness. I use Lancome mineral makeup all over my face, then I use Benefit concealer stick on all of the "red" areas and under eyes. I then finish with the lancome translucent powder that is made to be used with mineral makeup. I find this gives me a very nice, natural finish, it feels really light on my skin and looks natural. I have tried everything over the years and so far, this is my best combo.
