First off, whoa, so glad to have found this site, this forum. Since finding this website I have read so much about the dermaroller..they're a bit pricey though so before I buy anything, I figured I'd ask you all about my scar types and get your opinion. I have large deep pitted scars from a few cysts, and I'd like to know if the dermaroller would work for these kinds of scars? If not, would laser resurfacing plus fillers work? Well, obviously I would have to get a consultation with a professional to really know...but by chance, have any of you had experience with larger deep scars and any of these two methods?

Thanks so much in advance.

Dermarolling can definitely work on such scars, provided that you roll in the appropriate manner and follow the apprpriate pre-and post-roll topical protocols.

I would suggest looking at the 302 thread on the Product Reviews forum...Boski was able to remove her acne scars by using 302 topicals and the dermaroller. You can see her pics on page 1 of that thread.

You should also check out the Discounted Dermarollers thread...I would check the first and last couple of pages for the latest pricing.

bethany, I haven't seen you lately in the main dermaroller thread. I was hoping you or anyone could give me some feedback on the use of the roller on keloids. it's on pag. 115 and keeps getting further behind. I guess either nobody is insterested, or knowlegeable on the subject.

Bciw, I am not really following that thread any more. But I can tell you that the dermaroller is NOT recommended for anyone who has a tendency to form keloids. Sad

I looked at that thread, and her skin looks wonderful after...but my scars are quite a bit bigger...and on my thigh...I only have three but, again, they are bigger... the skin around the scars is firm so would you think using a roller with longer needles and using the necessary creams or lotions that they could heal just as well?

If they are on your thigh I would get a 2.0mm roller. Be sure to pretreat your skin with A and C for at least a month (or preferably longer) before you roll if you want the best results. You will need to continue using A and C for the following 6 months because it will take the skin that long to remodel.

can anyone give me links to the best brands to use with the dermaroller?..money won't be much of an issue for this one time because i've saved up for laser resurfacing, but i think i'd rather try this instead...or if they can tell me which thread discussed the products they used if there is one...i'm annoying with these questions, i know..i promise i won't bug y'all too much..lol

Most concur that 302 a-boost and c-boost are the best to go, mild and yet effective i guess.

Ok, so can I also put silicone scar repair gels on as well as the other products? And what about silicone gel sheets in between "rolling"? Has anyone else done this?

I think silicone gels or sheets work best on raised not pitted scars

They are generally for raised scars, but there are some for icepick scarring, but mainly they also help the skin regain a natural looking tone... which I also have a problem with...I hope the roller with help enough with evening the levels of my scars...but maybe the scars could be helped with the tone by the scar sheets?
