Frequently asked questions
What is microencapsulation?
Microencapsulation is the process of producing microcapsules, microscopic sized "packages", for the controlled release of active ingredients.
Why is microencapsulated retinol better than ordinary retinol?
Microencapsulated retinol protects the retinol from oxidation or spoilage and extends the shelf life of the product. The microcapsules break when they are applied to the skin so that the retinol is at its most active when delivered.
What will retinol do for my skin?
As we age the process of cell turnover slows down, allowing layers of dead, thick, sun damaged skin cells to remain on the surface. As a result - skin looks dull and thick, pores look large and sun-related damage such as age spots and blotchiness appear. Vitamin A (retinol) is one of the few substances with a small enough molecular structure to penetrate and work to improve the appearance of the lower layers of the skin where cell turnover can be increased through exfoliation.
I've bought a few of it (it was on offer!) and wonders what do you guys think of this 'encapsulated' retinol? Real or Marketing hype? |

Well Retin-a Micro uses microsponge technology, this sound similiar delivery system I think. But if they are serious I think they should list what % of retinol is in the cream. Too bad the formula contains Isopropyl Myristate, its a major pore clogger. |
