Dear all,
Can I ask please that if you are posting a response to a thread and the content of your intended post is only a thank you to another member that you use the ADD A THANK YOU function instead? You can find this on the top right hand corner of the post for which you wish to thank someone.
I'm sure you know that many people are watching threads for replies and they get email notifications when one is posted. The THANK YOU function was implemented so that we could thank the poster without sending out notifications to other members if there is no new post with specific contribution to the topic.
Thank you for reading this, I'll leave it up here for a week and will also put a copy in the Product Reviews forum section.

I thought that the "thank you" function was supposed to be used on posts that added new information, gave especially useful information on a topic etc.
I thought it was not meant to be used to say thank you only because you were grateful that a member replied to your question.
Have I completely misunderstood this? |

Hmm,...if we use the Thank You function to say thanks, then every thread will get a gazillion hearts and look like everyone loves that product, right? |

I've always interpreted the "thank you" button literally, as thanking the poster for a particularly helpful or insightful contribution, not as a product endorsement. I'm not sure we need a product endorsement signal, since very long threads themselves act as a signal that many of us are using a product. |
