So I'm over at *that place* again because I bought the wrong percentage of the Retin A - I bought the .25% and it's doing nothing.
Do I want the gel or the creme? 1%? .05%? A little of both?
Thanks |

Have you just started with Retin-A? Then I would rec Retin-A Micro 0.04%.
It will give you a good start but not shock your skin into peeling and redness. If you overdo it at first you'll just get discouraged and give up on it. Go into it gently! |

They don't have the micro Retin-A. Just the creme and the gel. I was kind of looking for the peeling effect actually. I've been a couple of weeks with the .25% and it's peeled a little in spots but not much. |

I don't think there is any reason to worry about the absence of peeling. The 0.025 % concentration (I think you missed a decimal) of tretinoin is actually pretty strong, and I think you should use up the tube before you step up to the 0.050 % concentration.
I think that whether you want to use a cream or a gel depends on your personal preference. The gel form is more easily absorbed and contains less emollients than the cream, and is usually preferred by those with an oily skin type.
Studies has actually shown that a 0.05 % concentration of tretinoin is just as effective for anti aging purposes as the 0.1 %. If you use it to combat acne, you should probably ask a derm for advice. |
