Ok, money has been tight for me lately...as it has for many other people I'm sure....so I was hoping to get a good discussion going about what everyone's favorite CHEAP skin care products are. I'm looking for those fabulous, best products that are tried, tested and true and cost very little money.
What I'm mostly looking for are products for oily skin that also work on acne and wrinkle prevention. I guess I hoped that at age 34 I would no longer be worrying about acne but no such luck! Now I worry about combating acne and preventing aging....not fair!
Any suggestions?

I don't have acne, but cheap things I like are:
Castor & Soybean oils for Oil Cleansing Method
Gold Bond Lotion
Rice bran oil
DYI C serum can be cheap depending on how simple you keep it. The more things you add from different suppliers + shipping charges the more $$ it can become.
Even with the high shipping fee, Tretinoin is still relatively inexpensive from alldaychemist.com compared to what you would pay in the US for the same product. And it is a product designed for acne. |

| My finances are horrible lately. I am trying to save money as well. I am ordering my Retin A from AlldayChemist to save money. I buy a few at once because the bulk of the cost is in the shipping. |

The cheapest product compare to Cellcosmet, that I usually use, is Weleda. You may check if they have anything for acne, but they definitely have products to prevent skin aging.
Also, as someone else mentioned Castor oil for OCM. |

| The cheap thing I like and also feel very worth buying product is John Masters Organic. I think its product line is natual and organic, and has different product for both the oily and dry skin type. |

I have never heard of this product, is sold in US? Could you please list the ingredients for lotion. |

Go with the tried and true.
Jojoba oil - moisturizing and non-pore-clogging (it actually helps regulate surface oil). Very inexpensive.
Retinoids of some kind are worth the initial expense. One tube of tretinoin (this, not Retin-a...always get the generic version) will last about a year with normal use.
Vitamin C. You can make your own, but it's actually sort of complicated. Avalon Organics, Mychelle and Zia are all companies that produce reasonably-priced (compared to the really high-end lines), effective C serums.
Vitamin E - buy in capsules or oil form. Laughably cheap. Works as a great spot moisturizer for dry, flaky patches of skin, as a lip balm (your lips will be noticeably softer and plumper), and for healing acne scars (dab on as soon as a pimple goes away). |

Yes its sold in the US at drugstores and walmart.
lotion ingredients:

I have mixed Vit C with different things: distilled water, aloe vera gel, fresh green coconut water, gold bond lotion, HA, even pomagranate-green tea. I haven't given up on it, but more and more I'm feeling it's "not all that" as much as it is touted for skin care currently.
I use rice bran oil as a moisturizer. It contains ferulic acid and Vit E. I started using it applied after C serum for the C+E+Ferulic effect. I like it on it's own and mixed with a little Vit E from a softgel. At some point I want to add the Tetra oil soluble form of Vit C to it and see how that works. |

Thanks for the info about the DIY vit C, LLucy. I may give it a try but it sounds like you haven't been noticing great things about it so maybe I'll hold off.
The Retin A idea is a great one but I'm trying to stay away from those types of products right now as I'm planning to try to get pregnant in the near future. Humm, products that are safe during pregnancy...I'm sensing another separate posting is in order!  |

I have some friends with eyebags and lip's lines and they swear by it. The most expensive too 15,25€

All of them from vectem labs.
The only problem is that they are sold on Spain, I have no idea if you can get them to the States. But people here rave about them and they do work for a very reasonable price.
There are some other products I like relatively cheap, as Volusen with kigelia africana, for breast and decollete. One little bottle costs around 7-8€ but kigelia is so awesome on firming tissues that some people are actually using it on other areas, as face and under chin or belly and it does work! I suggested a friend of mine to dilute one little bottle of volusen in her body milk and he loooves it.
I have only used on breast and it does work for me.
Retirides is a brand really cheap found here that is pure tretitoin at 0,25 0,50 and 1%. Good stuff.
Everything above can be found on spanish pharmacies, except for the Volusen (got it online) and I have tested all the products.
Good, and reputable brands that are affordable for most pockets.

DEVITA!
The Devita body sunscreen is a very well priced product and it's quite awesome. Although it says "body" disregard the name- I do! I use it on my face, neck, chest and hands. A good sunscreen is the single most important skin care product, in my opinion. And Devita's a really good one too. |

| If I had to cut back, I would be using Cetaphil cleansers, jojoba oil or Moisteral lotion and baking soda mixed with Cetaphil as a facial scrub. I don't think I could cut back on other products I use. |

I use Nivea Aqua Sensation Day Cream in the morning. It can be used as a night cream too.  There are many good reviews of this product. I've repurchased 3 tubs already. |

For mascara, I think Avon mascara does a good job for a cheap price.
I'm trying reviva labs skincare products right now. They're pretty cheap, but I don't know how they will turn out. I hope they work. I read lots of rave reviews from customers at vitacost, so I don't think these are fake reviews. |

So true! I wanted to buy the ingredients for DIY C serum but I couldn't seem to get them all from one supplier. That sucks! I don't want to pay $6 shipping here and another $6 shipping there. Ferulic acid is the problem, and seems only SAS has it, but SAS doesn't sell L-ascorbic acid. They sell only Ascorbic Acid which I don't know if it's the same as L-ascorbic or not. |
