I first found out that Estriol might be anti-aging from a tip in a PM that Loulou from ageless had discussed her use of it to reverse premature aging. This got me on the hunt. These are the first couple I've found, but I'm sure there's more.

Anyone tried Estriol cream in a facial product? I'd love to hear from you!

Apparently Estriol is the weaker form of estrogen that won't be picked up by the blood supply for systemic effects, but may have a positive effect on skin health...

You might find this related thread interesting, Trigger, as touches a little bit on it and there are some good links to other sites shared:

Prescription Progesterone
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=34095&highlight=estriol

Also, if you search for "estriol" and posts from "sharky", I think she has mentioned a few times that estriol cream in combination with facial exercises, diet and supplements got rid of her wrinkles.

thanks so much havana. I'm on a serious search for hormone info and it's related effects health and anti-aging wise. It's really difficult just searching willy nilly on the internet especially when most sites you find are selling something. Hearing from women that actually have experience is invaluable.

I've just ordered some progesterone cream to try for my extreme pms, so I'll have a look at the thread immediately!

alldaychemist.com sells both estriol and estradriol gel. I plan to try the estradriol diluted, 3 x a week when I receive it.

hmm. interesting! I wonder if do they do an rx progesterone, too. I think it's what would help my severe pms, but it's hard finding other women with the same issues that have found relief. At the moment I've ordered an OTC progesterone cream but there's varied accounts on it's efficiency in relieving symptoms. I remember trying it for a couple of months a number of years ago with minimal results, but can't be sure if it was the pure progesterone or yam cream which is meant to be ineffective. I'm studying, studying!!

Trigger, it would be the yam cream that would be ineffective, from what I read and tried.
Black cohash is supposed to help, but it did nothing for me. Don Quai did. I took them internally, not as a cream.

I am trying estridol right now, nothing to report as of yet. I am not noticing it does anything at all. Its been a few months. I got it from the UK. Someone from beyond-a-century told me about it, since I couldn't get it here. I didn't know about alldaychemist yet.

The progesterone cream is helpful for me, but I wasn't putting it on my face.

(I like the life extention forum too...for hormone discussions. )

I have used BHRT for a couple years, prescribed by a doctor. I used the Bi-Est oil for nearly a year on my forehead in an effort to reduce pore size, as this is supposed to be one of the effects. Apparently there are hormone receptors on the face. It didn't work, sadly. You have to rotate the application sites every day, or they 'burn out' and don't take up the hormone as effectively.

Please ladies, do not self-diagnose and buy estrogen creams over the counter or on the net as a facial product. These creams have powerful systemic effects and you can raise your estrogen levels dramatically (that is the point of them). Excess estrogen is known to promote cancer.

Having said that, I personally *strongly* recommend BHRT as an anti-ageing tool, provided it is monitored closely by an experienced physician.

thanks Justine, that's very helpful. I'm sure you're right about self-diagnoses. Always a dicey operation. Unfortunately I've been trying for 15 years to find a doctor to help me with my hormonal imbalances (which are severe) and still haven't been able to find a gyno/doctor that doesn't slap a birth control pill or anti depressant script at me. BC's give me excuciating month long migraines (rather than 10 days worth of menstrual migraine) and I don't have a problem with depression except for some severe mood swings at pms time. I'm living in a small town and am ready to try a few options of my own - within reason. Without the immense amounts of research I've done about nutritional and supplemental approaches to help with my issues, I'd still be practically bed-ridden. But I agree that self-diagnosing hormones is risky at best. I've found out that there's no doubt I'm definitely estrogen dominant, so I'm going to give an OTC progesterine cream a go whilst taking care to watch how I feel on it. Seriously, it can't get much worse for me at the moment with my monthly probs...

I am not self-diagnosing...I was tested low and getting it. I am low on everything.

I didn't think estridiol was for pores, I thought it was to make the skin thicker etc.
Its not doing that for me either. Its not doing anything at all.

I'm seeing a Integrative Specialist for my bio-identical hormones. My compounding pharmacist compounded a facial cream that has Estradial, Estriol, and Progesterone. It was pretty pricey so I found an alternative on Estro.com

Since I already use a compounded Natural Progesterone cream, I just mix a tiny amount in with the Estro cream and apply on my face/throat/neck 3-4 nights a week. I just purchased 3 jars on the closeout sale one:

This estradiol on life extension isn't the same thing as what the compound pharmacies have..so never mind what I said.
I got mine for estrogen, not for the face, but since estrogen is good for the face, I decided to try it.
I think I have the wrong kind even though I sent off for it, over seas.

I tried a natural Progesterone cream in my 40s and it did mess up my periods. I called the company and they told me to stop. Now at 54 my periods are still normal but I must be lower on hormones although no symptoms are apparent to me.

I tried the cream because I had read Dr. Lee's book and thought it would be a great way to be ahead of the game. I saw others struggling with issues and I thought that using the cream might insure a better path for me.

Ladies ~ I started using natural progesterone cream without having my levels checked due to peri-menopausal type symptoms. Sleep loss, memory loss, vaginal symptoms, skin dryness & on and on!! When I read Dr. Lee's book ~ he stated that taking natural progesterone could help with low estrogen symptoms because it is a pre-cursor to estrogen. Unfortunately, taking ONLY natural progesterone was a bad thing for me to do. As it turned out, my estrogen levels were decreasing ever so slightly, but my body is very sensitive. I felt the effects of the additional progesterone immediately. Hence, adding natural progesterone got me out of whack & INCREASED my estrogen deficiency symptoms. Once I had my bloodwork done, it showed that I was NOT deficient at all in progesterone, even though I was at the age where my progesterone should have dipped quicker than my estrogen. My estrogen levels were on the low side, BUT they were well within the normal range. LADIES REMEMBER ~ "NORMAL RANGE" MEANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IF YOU ARE HAVING ESTROGEN DEFICIENCY SYMPTOMS! So long story, short ~ have your levels checked by a professional first before starting any over-the-counter natural hormone product. Those over-the-counter products can put you into full blown menopause if you don't watch out!!! It ALMOST happened to me. Now, with the help of an OBGYN who practices natural hormone balancing as part of his practice, I feel great! But, it took some investigating to find him. It was well worth the search for me! P.S. I use natural testosterone cream, but very sparingly. It has wonderful effects if used correctly. It increases muscle size and makes your body appear more "cut", it increases stamina, strength & coordination and creates an emotional feeling of security. All good things if used properly. However, if you take too much you could create adverse affects like hair loss, hair growth on the face and an overly aggressive personality. HTH, Aprile

I second that! - BTW Aprile, you can find information about the symptoms of estrogen deficiency online on many helpful sites, and your symptoms fitted perfectly with it. Sorry you ended up taking the wrong thing. My symptoms are definitely progesterone deficiency, and I'm going to give the cream a try this month - however I'm def. on the hunt for a good gyno!

The progesterone cream didn't do anything to my periods, and I found it very helpful. I don't have any now, but I still cycle it. I use the moon cycles to help me remember, because I matched it when I did have one. I am 51.

I tested low on everything. Its all in balance, but all low. Dr Lee makes it sound like most people have too much estrogen; I did not.

I would like to try the testoerone cream but haven't yet. I would like a little more zip!
I have never had major symptoms, but everything has turned slightly blah.

I also want to get on the hgh, but that will have to wait until I am working more again. I am half unemployed right now, and even getting it from China is pricey. Well, pricey for me, right now

Please don't say you're considering getting HGH from China! That's a terrible idea!

For anyone considering testosterone supplements, proceed with caution. It is effective in increasing libido, if that's what you want, but it can also cause irrational anger and acne.

I saw a specialist in bioidenticals a few weeks ago to get my levels checked. I don't really have any symptoms but at 43 figured there must be some kind of hormonal changes by now. Maybe not, but I want to be ahead of the game. I had to wait till day 21 of my cycle to do the saliva test, and at the time wasn't exactly sure when that was so waited for my next cycle. Day 21 was yesterday so sent the sample off then. I've got my blood test to do next and should have all results back in 2-3 weeks. She did tell me that if anything I may find I'm a little low on progesterone as that usually begins to decline at 42. I personally would never mess with any hormone creams without professional guidance.

How did you go about finding a specialist in Oz?

I tried OTC progesterone cream, and found it did have a calming effect, but still not good enough. I was going through depression, waking at 3 am, night sweats, fatigue, dry flaky skin, loss of libido, and forgetfulness...but still having regular periods. Finally, I went to a BHRT specialist. One of the options I was given was the testosterone cream (blood test showed non-existent level). This alone has made a tremendous difference! I am overweight, but still have muscle tone. Of course, the best part is the return of libido. I am also taking oral Prometrium.

They also had me on DHEA, but the director of the practice just called me to say my DHEA levels have risen too high, and I need to back off. I did not realize how agitated I was becoming due to OD'ing on DHEA. My poor husband! I even got a speeding ticket (first time in 11 years) on the way to work!

I'll go back in a few weeks to see if I need estrogen. The dr wanted to wait and see the outcome of the other changes first.

Sadly, I have yet to see changes in my skin. My neck and chest are still showing the beginning signs of crepiness.
