I know, I know we,ve been though this. But I still want opinions on what to use to make those ugly, red post-acne marks go away quicker. I know eventually it'll go away but I want it gone quicker!. I'm taking zinc supplements but was wondering of any topical products that are good and actually work.
You can skip the advice about prevention, been through that already thank you very much. Anyway advice on the marks would be appreciated. |

Have you tried the Apple Cider Vinegar toner? This is quite good at clearing up scars.
Also my absolute Holy Grail is Dr Hauschka Rejuvenating mask, although I use it as more of a night cream.
In the evening I Cleanse, tone then apply a thin layer of the mask and wash it off the next morning. I do this for about a month and really notice a big difference, it does improve the condition of the skin and softens any scars down.
After a month of using this at night, I like to go back to applying a few drops of Jojoba Oil as a night time moisturiser. |

Hello!
I have the same problem...I have very pale skin so any old acne mark shows...even if I didnt pick! So...I bought two products this weekend and used them both (which I would not suggest becasue it really made my skin dry).
1. Green Apple Peel (Juice Beauty $39 sephora). I used it on Saturday morning and did not notice anything until Sunday morning when I noticed that the spots were starting to peel. It only did this a little so I'm sure it will take some time to see a real difference.
2. Neutragena Acne Fade Mask ($12.50 Target) I used this Sunday night which is what (I think) took my skin to dry town but I have to say it really made the marks fade. I have 4 areas that I focused on and they are much lighter after using this product.
I would recommend using one or the other because I am feeling pretty dry today...It depends on what kind of products you like because Juice is organic and Neutragena is...well...drugstore. Oh...I also have started using proactive again beause my skin was getting bad. I know proactive says it lightens acne scars...I've never really noticed it but it does prevent acne. |

The homemade aspirin mask will significantly fade red marks left from previous acne breakouts in just a single use. |

I agree with CareKate, the apirin mask is wonderful for decreasing red spots from acne!!! I dissolve a few aspirin in a lttile witch hazel, mix with some honey and leave it on about 10 minutes. |

Thanks for all the replies.
How often can you use the asprin mask for the red marks? Would daily be to harsh for the skin? |

Have I got a product for you, m'dear! Please consider using IS Clinical Super Serum. It is such a fabulous product! Not only is it anti-aging, repairative, and hydrating, but it also contains kojic acid to help fade pigmentation. The zinc content will help alleviate any redness, and has soothing properties. There is a 15% vit. C (l-ascorbic & ascorbic acid) content. This is slightly exfoliating, and will also help promote collagen production = repair.
It should be worn twice per day, under your moisturizer. |

You can apply it as a spot treatment every day to the red marks/areas, but until you see if your skin can tolerate using it all over your face, I'd hold off and use it every 2-3 days.
Personally, I can use the aspirin mask (or my own personal variation of it) daily without any problems, but I've apparently got the hide of a buffalo! |

I have always noticed that these marks went away quicker for me when I was using a combination of Dermalogica Microfoliant and a vitamin C serum. Vitamin C serums in general help heal the skin. The Microfoliant is a gentle enzyme based exfoliant that also has some salicylic acid in it (good for pimple prevention) and some skin brightening ingredients. |

All good suggestions. I would like to add that I find using an AHA gel helps. The AHA exfoliates the surface and BHA works well within the pore (to help clogs).
Vitamin C and antioxidants help skin tone.
I also believe in using sunscreen as a preventive. The sun seems to bring out the worst in skin tones and marks, etc. |

I have spot treated these types of marks with AHA. I found it really did help them fade faster. I used Pauals Choice AHA. |

While I utilize many of the suggested treatments (AHAs, ACV toner, aspirin mask w/honey) my favorite treatment is aloe. I take a leaf from one of my plants, split it open, and rub it directly on the spot for a few minutes. I do this 3-4 times a day, and follow up with a dab of tea tree or lavender oil. (As always, dilute the essential oil with a little carrier oil if you have sensitive skin.)
I've also found that this helps treat new pimples. It decreases the amount of time pimples hang around and helps prevent the marks from appearing in the first place.
HTH and good luck! |
