Oh No please please read on. i know ive been here before (like an old record)
i just got in such a mess and bogged down and cofused so thought maybe to start again would be easier
i am 36 and have just stopped smoking unfortunately my skin is aged and sun damaged. i have a lot of fine lines directly under my eye and this area is very saggy too. i also have crows feet and fine lines around my mouth. my eyelids , i have noticed recently, are showing signs of slight droopiness. i also have two small lines between my eyebrows - quite a mess hey
at the moment all i am using is the Esthers secret masque and serum as recommended by Judy. please could anyone help me in choosing some other products that can diminish the lines i have (especially my under eye problems) and to prevent more lines appearing. i really do need a complete skincare regime.
i am soooooo so sorry to keep harpering on to you guys - you must be well and truely fed up with me . im just so desperate for some help.
many many thanks
sally

Hi Sally,
First of all congrats. on stop smoking!!!! Are you using a Vit. C serum??? It will take time to see the results of all the good things you are doing for yourself.
Right now the biggest suggestion I could give you would to be to eat right. Have lots of veggies, fruit, lean meats, nuts (almonds), soy products, lots of water, some exercise and a good nights sleep.
I am using AlphaDerma CE for firming as it has several firming ingredients. The Argireline is a plus but I like the firming qualities of the product. Again, I still think that the bold suggestions are the most important for you right now.
Be patient with yourself. You have stopped smoking and that is more important then any skincare product in how you will look down the road. |

Sally....
I know that you used Esthers Secret system for a couple of months, then stopped and have now started up again. Like Winnie, I'd encourage you to be patient, but also be consistent with whatever routine you are using and use it consistently for 90 days without stopping.
I do hope and believe that you'll get some great suggestions for moisturizers, night creams, etc. Even though I use recommend using the Esther's Secret serum morning and night, it sounds like your skin at this point could use a really good moisturizer and night cream to use after the serum.
Smoking for years will have dehydrated your skin significantly and it will take time to repair that damage, but you certainly can make improvements.
The important things is not to lose any more time and get really consistent with a good program.
Since Mabsy's back, I know she will be able to recommend some really good Vit. C and moisturizers, etc. So, just look forward to great recommendations!
I'd also suggest that when you get started with a really good routine, that you take a before picture without makeup and then take another 30 days later, 60 and 90. Sometimes it's very difficult for us to see the improvement with the naked eye, but seeing it in a picture or on the computer screen can often show us improvements we didn't see.

Hey Salster, don't be so hard on yourself. Like Winnie said, quitting smoking is wonderful...we are all so proud of you. Remember, it took a lot of time to make your skin so needy so it'll probably take a while to rejuvenate it but that's the great thing about skin...it does rejuvenate. It seems that you probably should also use an exfoliant pretty regularly. I am no expert on exfoliants but certainly someone here can make some recommendations. That will help you slough off the old making way for new healthier skin cells. Eating healthy, exercising and drinking lots of water will be good for your whole body as well as your face. Don't get discouraged...you're doing great things for yourself. Try to be patient. We're all cheering for you. |

Ah, here we are. I just replied to your earlier post about this (I've locked it now so we don't have replies distributed all over the place).
Um yeah... where was I. Oh yes - vitamin C serum. Although reading through this thread I see that Winnie has beat me to it and Judy has predicted it as well! I was also going to mention the importance of exfoliation, but that's been done too!
Seriously though, what type of skin do you have? Dry, normal, oily? Sensitive? Once we know that we can all recommend something specific for you. |

Hi
thanks to you all for your replys. i guess i now need to choose a good vit c for my face and eyes (help please. i would say my skin tends to get dehydrated especially around the eye area. it can tend to go on the dry side too (again the eye area, my cheeks and chin). i dont have sensitive skin.
my main concern is my eye area - droopy eyelids are starting to form, the area under my eye is quite baggy and saggy now (i really would like to firm this up) and also has creepy lines under the eye and at the corner. i think i am in need of desperate help. i am still using the esthers masque and serum but if anyone can suggest which vit c to buy and also something to help reduce the saggy baggy eyes
many thanks again to you all
Sally

Sally - my favorite vit C serum is the Vivier one. It seems to be more stable than Skinceuticals and Cellex-C and also not as drying - it doesn't leave my face feeling tight when I use it. My mum has dry skin and uses this as well. In terms of the eye area - I'm not sure of a product that takes care of all of your concerns. My mum doesn't have droopy eyelids but she did have a problem with puffiness and bags under the eyes. She's been using Okusil for I guess about two months now and the area is much improved!
The creepy lines around the eye area could actually be dehydration lines (as opposed to permanent wrinkles). Are you drinking enough water and is your eye cream rich enough? I'm a big fan of Cellcosmet Eye Contour Cream - it's very light and won't cause puffiness and should plump out any dehydration lines. It also can be used all over the lid area and people have reported good results with reduction of puffiness of the lids as well as reduction of lines around the eye area.

Hi Mabsy
ok i think i should try the Vivier vit c Serum - is this for the whole of the face.
im a bit confused as what else i should use as well as the esthers secret serum. i need to improve the following:-
1. increase firmness and elasticity - the whole of my face/eyes/neck need help with this
2. reduce creey lines under eyes, frim and tone up the eyes too - eyes appear to be baggy and saggy above and below too
3. reduce wrinkles especially around eyes
4. also improve frown lines
what else can i order besides the vivier vit c serum ie. good eyecream and facecream help with the above problems.
i am also looking at taking collagen tablets with HA in them as on a link Eureka ive found the best lip plum under the products forum as told to me by Judy.
Look forward to hearing from you
kindest regards
Sally

Hi Sally,
Vivier does make a seperate serum for the eye area. Whether you need it or whether you can use the face one around the eye area really depends on your skin. Generally people start out with a lower concentration for the face (around 10%) and even lower for the eye area (around 5% or so). However, if your skin is not too sensitive then 10% around the eye area might be fine as well.
In terms of eye creams I would recommend the Murad Essential-C SPF15 eye cream for day time use. I am also a big fan of Babor Sensational Eyes (although I don't know how well it does with wrinkles) and Cellcosmet Eye Contour Cream. The latter is more expensive but it comes in 30mL instead of 15ml and has been reported to work quite well on plumping up lines.
I think vitamin C and argireline are both good choices but you also need an SPF for daytime. So I would suggest that you either get a moisturiser with SPF or a good sunblock. I'm quite attached to my Skinceuticals sunblock but there are heaps of choices around - just make sure it's broad spectrum!

Indeed - the second one on this list http://www.essentialdayspa.com/vivier-vitamin-c.htm
Some other brands also make eye serums (e.g. Cellex-C and I think Skinecuticals also). Vivier is just my personal fave because of the texture and also stability. |

Sally,
You should always start with the lowest percent Vit. C. 10% is the way to go. |

Sally,
You should use the 10% on your face. If this line has a vit. C for the eye area it most likely is 5%. 10% for the eye area is too strong (especially starting out). If you feel uncomfortable placing an on line order, you can call EDS and they will help you over the phone. |

Vivier Kine-C Dual Action Skin Firming Serum (Vitamin-C 10% + Kinetin) (30 ml / 1 oz.) £33.15 GBP
Vivier Vitamin-C IDS High Potency Serum 10 (30 ml) £30.94 GBP |

Yeah, I think the eye serum is a 5% in the Vivier range.
Of the two serums that you listed above I would probably go with the one that has the added Kinetin (which is supposed to be really good for the skin). It still has a 10% vit C concentration, the price is quite close but it has added goodness |
