I'm considering buying I'm Covered Day Lotion (Nanci from NCN) as my daily sunscreen. I was so impressed with the sample I recieved--matte and not oily! I've never used a sunscreen like that in my life.

Anyways, It lists Z-Cote (Micronized Zinc Oxide) as the main ingredient responsible for blocking uva/uvb rays. Would this be considered a physical sunscreen?

If so, how does that interact with my makeup? I believe if you use a chemical sunscreen and then use mineral makeup, the two have a cancellation effect? Is this also true if I use a physical sunscreen and "chemical" makeup?

Ingredients:
Prevent Photo-Aging 15% Z-Cote (Micronized Zinc Oxide) Purified Water, Isopropyl Myristate, Propylene Glycol, Emulsifying Wax NF, PPG-2 Myristyl, Ether Propionate, Stearic Acid, Vitis Vinifera (Grape Seed Extract, ) Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Beeswax (Cera Alba), Sorbitan Stearate, Polysorbate 60, Sodium PCA, Methylparaben, Triethanolamine, Carbopol, Propylparaben, Allantoin, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Soluble Collagen, Fragrance (Parfum), Yellow 6. (Moisturizing formula has added 100% Pure Squalane added to it).

Yes, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are physical sun blockers.

Avobenzone is what is problematic for sunscreen and makeup usage.

Avobenzone is said to become unstable when combined with uncoated zinc oxide, uncoated titanium dioxide, and iron oxides of yellow and black. If the zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, and iron oxides are coated or encapsulated, then there is no risk of avobenzone becoming unstable.

I don't see avobenzone in the ingredients list you posted, so there is no problem. Mineral makeup does not become unstable with Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, or OMC, only with avobenzone.
