I've been trying to come up with a way to categorize common skin treatments/procedures in a way that makes sense to me. Many of these things I want to try because people apparently get such great results, but then I'm hesitant because perhaps what works wonders on mature skin might harm younger skin.

I decided most things fall into one of two categories (some may be both).

restorative: treatments/procedures that restore poor skin to its former vibrancy. This could include things like serious chemical peels, Retin A, and face lifts.

enhancing: treatments/procedures that allow you to unlock your skin's full potential. I would consider things like sunscreen and supplements to be in this category.

both: it also seems to me some things like facial exercises, could be both. You could be restoring your former muscle mass in addition to building up what you already have.

The idea is that in general, it's better for younger skin to stick with enhancement type things and not mess around with products designed to restore skin.

Does this make sense? Am I drawing incorrect conclusions? If not, I would appreciate additional treatments/procedures and how you would categorize it.

If this topic has already been discussed (probably under different vocabulary which I am not familiar with) please point me to the right thread. Thanks!

Hmmm, well this is an interesting topic. My thoughts are that enhancing would be more along the lines of fillers (such as restylane, juvaderm, etc...), botox, etc.. or anything that enhances and/or relaxes your natural features

Peels, laser light treatments, Vitamins and supplements would fall more into the "preventive" category but could also be categorized as restorative, using light to eliminate hyperpigmentation, etc... and to stimulate collagen.
