I'm the other way around - in the morning I don't need anything strong because my face is makeup free. That means that I can use pretty much ANY cleanser I want or just a very warm wash cloth. I tend to use Dermalogica Microfoliant or Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream in the mornings though. At the moment I'm trying out Murad Vit C daily cleanser. I did once try a Sothys cleanser (purifying foam I think it was called) and it was quite nice - it didn't make my list of "things to buy" so I gather that I preferred my YonKa Gel Nettoyant (which, btw I highly recommend! ). I've got normal to combo skin, what's your skin type? |

Ceasar Salad - I'm in Brisbane Btw, have you tried any skin treatment oils to try to normalize the oil/dryness? Decleor makes some good oils (that smell lovely too!) and they've been reviewed quite well here. Clarins also has three different oils for different skin types. |

I use Spectro Jel in the morning...it's non irritating and doesn't make me red. This is usually why I skip washing in the morning...cleansers made me red. This one doesn't. I use Jan Marini's Bioglycolic at night. |

I just give my face a warm splash in the morning since I cleanse at night. Currently I'm using a cheap drugstore brand (I think Clean and Clear) while I surf the boards to find a cleanser for oily skin. |

Hi everyone!! I also use spectro Jel...it is the best cleanser I have ever used for my sensitive skin and it doesn't cost a fortune. Its a gel like cleanser that doesn't have any fragrance, parabens or other irritants. I can't live without it! My search for a cleanser had stopped once I had found this one! Now to find that perfect moisturizer ! |

I didn't know you had to use a different cleanser for night and mornings!!!!! I use Kose's Seikkisei soap since I'm using the moisturiser and lotion from the entire range. I like the refreshing feel but also I like the fact that it lasts for at least 4 months!!! |

I also use a drugstore cleanser for morning - I'm currently using Neutrogena clear pore cleanser. I like it as it has tiny scrubbing beads in it. |

I'm using Darphin purifying foam gel in the morning - great product as it's not drying. |

I used to use just water in the morning. But, now I use MD Forte cleanser to control my breakouts.
Mabsy - my skin is also normal + combine. What's good about YonKa Gel Nettoyant? |

Hi,CS. I have a similar skintype as yours and I would recommend that you try Decleors neroli oil first. It will give a lot of moisture without any oiliness. I found the ylan ylang oil not enough moisturising.
Also, I use Babors 2-step cleansing oils at night and only need water in the morning. This cleanser really helped normalise my dehydrated combo skin! No more oily t-zone! |

I use Obagi's sensitive cleanser....it is so mild that even if you get it in your eyes it doesn't sting.
I would have to say that it is the nicest foaming cleanser I have ever tried.

Ceasar Salad,
I would recommend the Aromessence Neroli as well, but, since you are in Sydney, you may want to also consider Aromessence Solaire as it is non-photosensitizing.
And about the cleansing in the morning, you may like Valmont's Cleansing water, Water Falls. It is very simple product, refreshing to use and works well on my oil tzone. |

Completey agree about neroli oil - you won't be disappointed.
For cleansers I've recently moved to gatineau for the winter season and it has made a difference to keeping my skin moisturised...I'm using much less mousturiser and my skin feels much smoother. Not sure if I will switch to something else for the summer season - guess that depends on how much the skin is aging underneath all this care and attention!! |

it seems that i must give the neroli oil a try my t-zone is better than before now (although it is still not perfect ) i used to just use oil-free products and all these deep cleansing masks to get rid of my face oil... then once this skin analyst told me that my skin was actually dehydrated within that's why it kept producing oil... so i think balancing both water and oil of the skin is very important
hi aurora, i am thinking of ordering the babor cleansers too... how do the two steps work? |

The 2-step cleanser is really easy to use actually. I have the hy-öl and phytoactive combination, I think that combination would work for you too. First I take two pumps of the hy-öl and massage onto dry face, concentrating on difficult spot and areas. Then I take one pump of the phytoactive and massage on top. Then I wet my finger with lukewarm water and massage over the oils until I get a white emulsion, and rinse this off. Face is now clean and soft! As long as you rinse well, you should have no problems with residue and you don't need a toner. The oil will aslo remove any make-up, only exception in my case is very stubborn mascara
Good luck! |

Happygirl - YonKa Gel Nettoyant does a good job as a cleanser, is quite refreshing in the morning, can be used around the eye area, and does take off makeup quite well. It's a great gel (or gel-like, it's a rather watery gel) cleanser and it's non drying (at least it was perfect for my normal-to-combo skin). |

I use the same cleanser morning and night (Natural Approach Lotion cleanser). Is there any reason why one would need a different cleanser night or morning?
Since I have combination skin, my forehead has a tendency to be slightly oily in the morning, so must use a cleanser. I use a rebalancing toner that does control oil to a great degree, but is there something else I should be using?

Judy,
Well my reason (apart from wanting variety) is that in the morning I don't need anything that can take off makeup, whereas at night I do.

I just use Avene's Extremely Gentle Cleanser for sensitive skin, which is a "no-rinse tissue off formula", but I rinse it off with water otherwise I can't wake up. This is a sort of cream-gel consistency and very light.
My skin's normal, but I like to use something for sensitive skin because I'd like to keep it normal.
I was always looking for cleansers, but this one's been around for over two years.
Maybe because I can't go to Boots anymore.
