I purchased these products but I am not that satified with them. This winter my skin feels a little dry and it seems these products are a little harsh. I'm using it sporadically since they feel a little waxy. I would like someone to give me some advice if you have used these in the past. Maybe I just need some instructions--they aren't very specific on the boxes. Thanks so much!
Btw, I usually use Decleor products on my skin but have run out and have to order more. I am thinking of trying something new altogether. I am a lighter skinned latina with mixed dry-oily skin but more on the drier side. I have also been experiencing some breakouts lately - could be from the Obagi products. |

What results were you hoping to have from the Clear and Exfoderm? Usually these are used as part of the Nu Derm system (all the Nu Derm products used in order 1-5, which work together). |

Hi there, thanks for posting a comment. Actually since I had just been pregnant and had a baby I thought that they would work on a little melasma that I had noticed on my upper lip area. I did ask around about using it in conjunction with other products and most of the comments were positive about using it with other lines. These aren't cheap so I would like to continue using them. My skin is sensitive and especially in this winter weather (I live in New England) I don't want it to dry out.
Any suggestions? |

You can try them for your melasma, but I honestly don't think just those 2 products are going to do the trick by themselves. You need the entire system for the Nu Derm products to work the best. (Hydroquinone works best when used with Retin A.) I can tell you the way they are used in the Nu Derm regimen. The Clear should be used twice a day; 1 gram twice a day, and this is applied after cleansing and toning. The Exfoderm is used once a day in the morning after the Clear and normally 1/2 gram is used. I have to say that I would not recommend them for someone with sensitive skin though. Good luck! |

Hi Missp,
Just wanted to add my 2 cents. There are a lot of people on the forum who have used Obagi (Nuderm) with great success in regards to melasma. If you do a search, you can find several older threads about Obagi and the results/experiences that forum members have had.
BTW, Rileygirl knows her stuff! She's like our in-house Obagi expert! |

HI Missp, I started the Obagi nu derm system on the 21 November and have seen great results. I was using it to treat mild melasma and honestly, it does work. But you need to use all the products, as each product is used to complement each other to achieve the max results. I'm halfway through my 18 week program, I live in Australia where we are in our summer months so the warmer weather seemed to ease the dryness a lot. However I do travel overseas a lot and everytime I hit the winter weather I notice immediately how much drier and tighter my skin feels. My skin becomes alot more sensitive, the exfoderm and the retin A being the primary cause. I've read all of rileygirl advice on this forum and her advice and information is invaluable! |

Missp,
I can add to what others are saying about Obagi working on melasma, and also recommend that you use the full series.
Also, I recommend seeing a derm. I live in Norway and this winter is extremely dry and my first 5 weeks of Obagi has been a nightmare with itching, peeling and redness, but it's so worth it! |
