I am reading one of her newest book (refered to Chinese version):
http://product.dangdang.com/product.aspx?product_id=20758614
The tips in this book are not same as Skincare Revolution and it has step-by-step illustration on every method that she recommends.
During this weekend, I have tried the 3 days 2 nights skin detox that she highly recommended, except using warm water to clean your face am and pm, did nothing for your skin. I was expecting my skin will be very, very dry and have deep wrinkles around my eyes, but actually it's not! I was surprise to see my skin looks absolute perfect. I even went out to supermarket and took my kids to see Disney on Ice.
There is a chapter on hands care, I will definitely give it try this week. |

Here is the cotton that she made, quite expensive USD10 for 30 pieces.
http://item.taobao.com/auction/item_detail-0db1-c3e1e49836748e798cfbac5f0798e35e.htm?cm_cat=0
In her book, she said many cosmetic companies have approached her to develop a Saeki skincare line, but she is not interested. She prefers to use/try new products, even the low-end ones. But she can't find the perfect cotton pads in the market, so she partnered with a company to develop her own cotton pads and they are available in most bookstores in Japan. |

Critic,
Have you ever done the water massage that she recommends in Skincare Revolution? I keep forgetting to buy a bottle for it. |

I am not interested in the water massage because I wonder if it is powerful enough? |

Critic, this sounds like an interesting idea which makes a lot of sense to me for giving a break to our face. And I would probably try it sometimes this month and find out what it can do for my face!!! As it is suggested to clean the face with warm water only, I guess I can't put on any makeup during the detox period. (hopefully I won't look too scary without makeup... lol) |

I actually like it very much, feel very fresh and clean after detox. the book did not say how often we should do it, perhaps can try once a month.
Use nothing for the 3 days 2 nights, only warm water to clean the face in morning and pm. |

My face wash was taken away by airport security So I was forced into a detox, my skin looks surprisingly clear! It's nice to know we don't have to rely on products all the time. I totally live Chizu Saeki I want to read her autobiography. |

I have 3 of her books. She has started her career as office lady in her 20s+, then she met her very handsome husband and followed him to live in California for a few years. Her husband died (cancer if I remembered well) when she was 42, she missed him so much and cried for 3 years without doing anything, not even look in the mirror. until one day, her best friend asked, "When are you going to stop crying." From then, she spent 2 whole months to take very good care of herself (she said she looks like 60+ when she was 42). she started doing the lotion mask every day + all other things that she listed in her book. |

She applied the Training Manager position in Dior, won the position (it seems very difficult from what she has described), spent a few months training in Paris.
back to Japan, she enjoyed working in the cosmetic counter to teach people what/how to use the skincare products etc. She wrote a Manuel (guidebook for Dior) and they are still using it.
By the time when Dior hired her, they were talking about to win Chanel without xxx years. She worked in Dior until she retired at 60. After her retirement, she offered facial treatment at her home (5 clients/day), then she started to run her own beauty salon in Tokyo, the waiting list is as long as 3-year. She said, she will never sell skincare products to her clients in her salon. |

Thanks for sharing that Critic. Wouldn't you love to meet her? Gosh she seems to have a really great energy. Honestly one of my dreams is to spend some time in Asia and check out all the neat beauty stuff. Get the eye brightening in Koreas and go to Mrs.Saeki's salon..
I have Shiseido cotton, now that I think of it I should do the lotion mask tomorrow morning. |

What lotion are you going to use for the lotion mask? I have read all her books that are available in Chinese, it gives me a feeling that lotion is toner. She recomends Nuxe lotion in her book. |

I’ve met Mrs Saeki some time ago when she was in Japan doing a talk, and she had an English translator with her who translated what she was saying, but she was adorable.
She demo’d the lotion mask using NARs lotion at that time, but she had some other examples with her, but they looked mostly Japanese style creams.
With the warm water, its important that its neither hot nor cold. Its almost like body temp. The reason being is that this won’t shock your skin. It allows it to gently cleanse it without traumatizing it. Also from memory when she demo’d cleansing the skin, she would have people lean over the sink, and she filled it with warm water (and actually they took the temperature of it, and I’m convinced it was body temp water). That was quite a few years ago, and after that visit I was lucky to speak to many people and they were all nearly advising the same thing, to cleanse with body temp water. Only a few suggested hot water (and usually that was because they believed it helped to melt oils out of the pores etc) and finishing off with cold water for circulation benefits, but I’ve been cleansing with body temp water ever since and I’ve got to say I love doing it.
I also was fortunate one time to meet Helen Sher, who recommends cleansing with warm water and advises people to do splashes on their face with warm water I think 30-40 times, and that too has an amazing clarifying ability on the skin, but it also relaxes the face too which is worth trying.
I'd also love for her to give me a facial - as I bet there are things she could teach even me!

No way! I have Nuxe creme nirvanesque moisturizer right here at home. Chizu and I must be on the same page Thanks for sharing Critic, I always love to read your posts.
SeanySean, thanks for the tip. I'm a big advocate of rinsing the face many times after cleansing as well. Marilyn Monroe is said to have rinsed her face many times after cleansing.
I wish I could have a sit down with Chizu over tea and discuss skin and life. She seems very inspirational and of course quite lovely and sweet. |

I never heard of NUXE, I thought it is LUXE, isn't a shampoo called LUXE?
Is Nuxe a high-brand or something like Olay? It gives me an Olay or Johnson & Johnson feel. |

Check it out. I'm unfamiliar with the Luxe brand. Nuxe is higher end but not as pricy as say La Prarie or Revive but it's definitely not along the lines of Oil of Olay in price range. |

ooh the Nuxe looks lovely callalily. Have you tried anything else from them? And where did you buy it from?
I haven't tried not using products for three days, but I do try to regularly not use anything for one day. Dr Huber from 302 used to say that it was good to not overload the skin and check how it was doing without any products every so often. There are so many ingredients out there that artificially plump the skin.
I would love to meet Chizu Saeki too. She just has the most gorgeous face. Very kind looking. Wow three year long wait list. Pretty incredible. I guess there would be no chance of getting regular appointments. |

You can get the Nuxe products through Amazon. The Nuxe Toning Lotion with 3 Roses looks like it would be wonderful for the lotion mask and it's not that expensive either. |

Critic,
I have also read that she has a 7 day program where she has you take your body temp every morning. Is that part of the Detox?
I am so inspired by this woman. I wish more of her books were translated into English. I understand she has written some 30 books since her husband died. What a wealth of information they must hold!
I have certainly learned a lot from her one English translated book and from you.
Thank you for sharing this! |

SeanySean,
Save, save, save. Chizu's salon charges from $345 to $537 for a treatment. It does last two and a half hours though. I have her address and a map when you need it. |

Critic,
Forgot to add. In the English edition of the Revolution she suggests NARSskin Hydrating Freshening Lotion. In another article, I read that Nars is owned by Shiseido and that the softening lotion (by their brand name) is similar. I bought the latter at Sephora and really like it for the mask. Not watery like a toner but not as thick as a lotion either. |

Really? I thought NARS is a US brand, can't tell it is Japanese from this packaging.
Shiseido has many product lines, some are unbelievable cheap.
Have you tried the lotion mask? |

I want to report I just followed her book and offer a 2-hour facial treatment for my husband, including the following:
1. Cleanse
2. Peeling
3. Lotion mask
4. 20-mins Massage (combination of Tanaka & Saeki) + neck massage
5. Lotion mask again
6. Hydrated mask by La Colline and eye mask by La Colline
7. Cover lotion mask on top of the La Colline mask
8. Cover with kitchen film
He was so comfortable and fell asleep.
I know you will ask why I am doing so many times lotion mask, I went to La Colline spa yesterday, tried very hard not to fall asleep and remembered what she was doing on my face.
The result for my husband is obvious! but i would complain he is now whiter than me. |

Thanks Skippie! Ooh the toning lotion looks great. Good price. I think I want to try a few of their things. Funny how some products just really appeal and when you stop to think there is no real reason. Ah the magical allure of beauty products |
