Hi! I started the Obagi-C normal to oily system 2 days ago. I am freaking out because I purchased the system online and am not going through a derm. My face is red and I have a whitish line around my lips. This morning I have dry patches and flaking in the creases around my mouth and on my chin. Is this normal! I feel like I look 10 years older, not younger. Please advise. Thanks!!

Try not to panic, this is actually perfectly normal. The motto of obagi is 'out with the old, in with the new' but the intial stages can be pretty uncomfortable with peeling, redness, dryness, lines/wrinkles appear worse, etc.

If the side effects become too unearable you can always ease off the programme for a couple of days and then return to the regime once your skin has settled. You could also go for a gradual approach of using the products just 3 x week rather than daily to start with.

There are also control products such as obagi action that can help reduce some of the irritation or you can just use some aloe vera gel or zinc oxide cream.

So just hang in there, the results are well worth it!

Thank you so much for your replies! I keep finding more and more Obagi products out there and really want to be sure I'm using the right thing. I know I don't want to use the NuDerm since I am not ready to go through the commitment. I thought with the C-RX system I would see results instantly. I am going to hang in there past this redness, and what seems to be deeper wrinkles. How long will I have to wait to see real results? Everyone keeps asking me if I am sunburned and why my eyes look like they do. I have crows feet and dark circles (I've had them for a few years), but they are getting worse since I've started using the Obagi C! Should I start using the Eye Cream as well?
Thank you for your support!!

Yes, absolutely keep hanging in there. I have been on the C-Rx system for 6 months now and it has worked wonders for me. I found the first month a bit tough but past that it is all uphill..

And I forgot to mention about the eye cream - I dont think Obagi's eye cream is anything spectacular - it may be on the expensive side for an eye cream. I believe it's main goal is to keep moisture around the eyes.

Well 6 weeks is one skin cycle and usually the amount of time for the redness, peeling, irritation start to subside.

Remember this is a skin health restoration system, not a quick fix. It's actually reprogramming your skin at a cellular level to look and function as though it were younger!

P.S. You can use any eye cream of your choice.

What do you recommend for eye cream? I have dark circles and puffiness and crows feet. Need some miracle cream. Laughing

I personally like the obagi elastiderm eye cream but it has copper in it so probably not compatible with the vit c.

But to be honest, if you use the c-rx products around the eye area you'll get all the improvements from that as far as reducing dark circles, puffiness and crows feet. Then you can just use a very basic eye cream over the top for hydration.

Hope this helps Smile
