I'm new here and just starting to really get passionate about taking care of my skin. I was wondering how you even go about starting a skin care routine (which products to use, when you use them, etc.).
A little about me. I have sensitive skin which is combo with a slightly oily T-zone. I'm in my early 30s so have started to get more concerned about wrinkles than blemishes. I have very large pores on my nose. I rarely get breakouts but do get bumps on my chin and above my eyebrows. I am purchasing a Clarisonic in the next couple of days.
Any advice would be much appreciated! |

after spending so much money on skincare products,
the stuff I feel really important are:
tretinoin for the night
VC serum for the day
sunscreen everyday
these three like the fundation of the whole skincare system |

I have come to the same conclusion as hellynzqq. If you use Retin A & a vit.c serum now you should improve and retain your youthful skin. Then you shouldn't have to spend a fortune on a decent moisturizer for your skin type. |

I third hellenzqq and brierrose! These are the 3 things that can truly make a difference in your skin over time. |

hi,
welcome to EDS!
you could spend alot of money in a little bit of time.
i think the clarisonic is a good choice. start with that... that should give you a good cleansing and the unit should come with a cleanser. you can decide after using it if the cleanser is moisturizing enough or you need a deeper clean. i would think that it would suffice since you have combo skin and sensitive.
also since you have sensitive skin please go very gentle with the clarisonic till you get adjusted and more familiar with the device. the clarisonic will clean every spot on your face, is a fab exfoliator... its just wonderful.
then i think your next step would be a moisturizer and sunblock.
take your time and have fun. there are so many products available.... so many options.
you're in your 30'... i dont know your whole situation but i think you should concentrate on prevention before going into any heavy duty chemicals. as i said, i'm not familiar with your skin... you know best.
good luck! |

p.s. you'll notice with the clarisonic that your pores will be cleaned out and get smaller! |

Thanks for the tips!
That's what I'm excited for re the Clarisonic, the smaller pores.
Any recommendations on what brands to start with, something that is gentle and effective but won't break the bank?
How did you all figure out which brands/products to go with? Did you consult a professional? Buy multiple products until you found one that works?
Thanks |

Ideally, what age should you start using a potent vitamin A product at night? |

IMO, the 30's is a good time to start. |

with more thought...
i find that buy from eds very easy in the sense that you can use the shopping site to view the products, the ingredients, what it is for, and directions of how to use it.
what i do, is cross reference the eds product with the forum reviews. there is also a search option on the forum to locate certain concern and or products. the product reviews on EDS are over flowing with helpful information. it will be weeks of reading but you'll learn soooo much. also keep in mind when searching for a product and referencing with reviews, what your own skin type is.
