I've just wondered for a long time. Since new skin cells are always replacing old ones, wouldn't you expect tattoos to fade away through time, even if the ink is pretty deep? |

Of course they do. My OH has tattoos he had done 30 years ago & you can hardly tell what they're supposed to be now. |

I have a tattoo that is around 18 years old. I got it in memory of my father. It has faded a bit over the years, but still looks great. The artist told me to put sunscreen on it when out in the sun and it seems to have helped....or maybe it's all in my head?  |

I have an old tattoo and even though the colour is still strong the lines have run out and blurred. My guess is it's because it has been put in too deep, that caused the blurring (but also kept the colours fresh). |
