| OK. I have VERY stubborn melasma on my forehead and temple. And I HATE it. I did Obagi Nu Derm for six months and a blue peel. It has faded a bit. But is still very present. I am beginning to wonder. I have this thing called a BioMat that I use for an hour everyday (for pain management for fibromyalgia). I lay on it and sweat heavily. It emits negative ions and infrared heat up to 160 degrees. It is made of amethyst. I guess I thought it would be different than a regular sauna since it is infrared heat. But my body gets very hot. Do you think this could be causing my melasma to stick around? The only other thing I can think of is that I eat a lot of nuts and seeds with copper. Is there indeed a connection? PLEASE HELP!!!!! I want my pretty skin back. |

Heat is definitely said to be a factor in melasma.
Are you on a contraceptive pill...have you had hormone blood work done. As you probably know an excess of estrogen is the principal cause of melasma. |

| My personal experience with melasma is hormone changes(due to PG)+ Sun = uneven pigments... |

| Hmm, interesting. I am looking into portable infrared sauna, and came upon this post. I also have melasma, and have read that heat contributes to it, which is why physical sunblocks and not chemical sunscreens are recommended. Now I have to seriously rethink a sauna approach to elminate cellulite! Not that I have any idea whether a sauna would help w/cellulite..(and yes, I eat right and am also a compulsive exerciser. SOme things can't be avoided!) |
