Talking with a friend of mine that is looking to put her practice together; informed me that she wasn't looking at getting a Pro Galvanic current machine because products are now coming out with nanoparticle products that penetrate into the dermis. She went on to say that skin care companies are almost laughing at the thought of using Galvanic in our practices for product penetration. That there is no need to push the solutions into our skin but that with this new technology, active ingrediants will be absorbed into the deeper layers naturally.
So do we need to use the Galvanic or Iontophoresis process to recieve that much needed skin boost? It is still considered a relevant technology in skincare? |

I think Galvanic and Iontophoresis treatments have more benefit to the skin than just product penetration. They can be used for cleansing, stimulating collagen and elastin, wrinkle treatments and lifting.
As far as nanotechnology is concerned - it's definitely supposed to deliver the actives deeper into the skin. However, there is still much discussion going on as to the safety of this technology.
If I were running a skin clinic I would have thought it would be more lucrative to be selling Galvanic or Iontophoresis treatments (where you're just selling time after the initial purchase of the machines) rather than on-selling a skincare cream. |

I also think it depends on the lines you are going to carry in your business. Not all the lines are going to have the nanotechnology, and some people who prefer more natural treatments will not want that skin care used on their skin. |

I am wondering what other services you plan to offer in this new business to draw customers in? |

That is a very good question. I have been researching and pondering that particular question for a while now. I want to be cutting edge and through with my services. I love this forum because you guys and gals keep my ear to the ground on the new skin treatments available as well as honest unsolicited reviews of what is out there now.
I already offer the Clarisonic cleansing with all of my facials (it gives me such clean skin for product penetration). I already have received noticeable client satisfaction among my basic facials!
If you were to look at an Estheticians services menu, what would you like to see that is offered? |

I echo Keliu's comments on this.
If I had easy access to a place that offered iontophoresis and sonophoresis treatments, I'd jump at the chance to go there.
Nanotechnology? still scares people and perception is reality (UNFORTUNATELY) in skincare for the masses.
Of course, we here are not the masses.
