There are a large number of people who swear by urine therapy, especially popular in India and Japan. Some well known celebrities including Madonna have promoted it. I know someone with quite nice skin who told me she does topical urine facial treatments regularly.
Obviously urea is in a lot of cosmetics. Has anyone known anyone who had good cosmetic results with this therapy? |

Thanks but I'll pass on this suggestion. I dont get why you would use something that the body is getting rid of, plus the smell - yuk! |

She had really dark marks on african american skin and her skin is really smooth and clear now and you could not tell that she ever had any marks on her face. It took some time of course. |

WTH? I'm confused? Is this someone you know Caramelove or part of a message with parts missing?

I am not even thinking about using urine on my skin, but a google search brings up a number of what I would call alternative sites that recommend this as a treatment. |

I think you'd be better off buying some urea and making a toner of some sort. |

I tend to agree Coconut, at least Urea is filtered and purified. |

Urea doesn't need to be processed from urine either. I believe the main purpose is for hydration, as I see it as a major ingredient in creams targeted at skin conditions such as eczema/dermatitis/psoriasis/burns. |

Well, I've read about this before. There is a lot in the internet and I have to confess that I've thought about doing it because it made sense to me after reading about it; however, I just can't make myself put my own urine on my face, I think I will end up throwing up. |

I agree the sites I found I didn't even link to, just the thought of drenching my face in urine is way out there in my opinion. |

I work for an ob/gyn and we had a pt who had terrible melasma during preg. At her 6 wk check up her face was looking a lot clearer, so I asked what she had been using. Well she told me that someone told her to use her baby's wet diapers on her face and that's what she had been using. That is the first time I had ever heard of anything like that. But I can say that her face did look better. |

OMG ... that doesn't sound very hygenic! The things people do in the name of beauty. |

I have been reading up on reviews on Urea. For people with eczema and psoriasis, apparently its very effective. I believe Eucerin has a 5% urea cream. I'll go try that out! |

I know many derm's recommend products containing Urea for a number of skin issues and have no problem with that. Straight urine is too much for me to deal with! |

I have a foot/heal softening cream that has Urea as a main ingredient. I read somewhere that it is from animals and processed and the yucky things (like germs) die off in the process.
The name of the product I use is 'NS-8' - I'm in Australia, and I'm not sure if you can buy it overseas, but if you google 'NS-8' or 'NS-8 foot cream' I am sure something will come up.
The smell is...gross, but I am REALLY sensitive to smells - more than the average person, I am told, so I don't know what other people think about it.
My feet were in really bad shape as I had neglected them for months. My heals were dry and calloused and had cracks developing. I have been using the cream for a week (applying it to feet and wearing socks over them) and the results are amazing. The skin has totally softened.
I am not sure about other skin care products with urea in it, but this is my experience! |

I think this would have serious adverse side effects. I would NOT be able to do it. |
