Hi everyone. I'm using SkinCeuticals Eye Gel AOX, but it says, "avoid upper eyelids." What do people do to treat that area? I want to prevent aging on my eyelids as well. Is putting any l-ascorbic acid product on your eye lids harmful? What about putting products with more than 5% vitamin c on your eyelids? I know for the rest of the skin the general rule is to use 10% or above for optimum effectiveness.

Thanks so much.

Most eye creams recommend use around the eye (following the orbital bone) I know some people do use eye creams on the lids but very few products will advise use on the lids. My guess there is concern with the product migrating into the eyes themselves? Smile

I think that the company is concerned that the level of acidity of the product might irritate the sensitive and thin skin of the eyelids and if accidentally getting into the eyes, might cause conjunctival irritation as well. I must admit that I personally have used up to 15% L-ascorbic acid on my upper eyelids without any problems. I have resistant (non-sensitive) skin though. And I don't use it every day and only a tiny amount (after I apply to the rest of the face then with fingers still damp I dab a bit on the upper eyelids). If the company states not to use it on the upper eyelids, though, it would probably better for you not to do it. If you do feel inclined to do so, it's at your own risk and you wouldn't be able to seek redress from the company for any side effects that occur.
