I have been battling acne for years and even after 8 months of retinod use I was still having problems with blackheads and blocked pores. I especially had problems with small flesh coloured bumps which I thought were closed comedones of some kind but quite deep into the skin. So even if my skin looked clear in good light you could see that the surface was very bumpy and if I touched my face I could feel it like braille. In desperation the other day I tried something I have been putting off and washed my face in a 2% Ketoconazole shampoo (something I read on acne.org might help). I had been worried as it I thought I might react badly so I made a very week lather and left it on my face for about 2 minutes then rinsed it off well and went to bed without putting anything on top.

It's not two days later and my skin seems so much smoother and even the dry patched I get from using retinods seem better. I will use it again tonight but I think it must be helping with the bumps ketaconazole is both antifungal and an anti-androgen (it reduces sebum production) so I'm not sure on what count it is helping my skin but it seems to be. I am of course though always wary about getting too excited about anything that seems to be helping as I've been disappointed so many times when things revert to how they were. I would like to know if anyone has had a similer effect from using a Ketoconazole product?

Pandora,

I don't genrally have acne issues, but I do often get skin rashes as a result of having a systemic yeast infection for 20+ years (lucky me).

When I do get a rash or start itching, I immediately pull out a bottle of Nizoral shampoo and use it as a body or face wash...it has been a lifesaver.

But based on your suggestion, I may start using it during occasional hormonal acne breakouts too!

That's very interesting. How are the results so far? Are you still using? Does anyone know about the ingredients in this product that could affect the skin texture. Inquiring minds want to know Wink
