Hi. I'm a newbie around here and after lurking for about a month I'm finding I'm more confused now than I was when I started. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually though...
To give you a bit of a background, I'm 39yo with fair, combination skin. After having kids (4yo twins) I found that my skin has changed, but I haven't been able to get it completely under control. Over the past year or so I've developed adult acne, mostly along my jaw line with occasional spots on my chin, cheeks or forhead. It's the cystic type that sticks around forever and it's driving me crazy. Last summer I added a vitamin C serum to my routine (Ole Henriksen, which I'm now gathering from these forums isn't the best choice) and I found it did make a bit of a change, but nothing significant. Last fall I changed from a liquid foundation, which I never used to even need, to a mineral powder (Pur Minerals). After reading about bismuth in MMU I took a look at the ingredients in mine and sure enough it's there. Just this week I started using the OCM in the evenings (1/2 co, 1/2 evoo, 1-2 drops tto). The acne came out full force after the second night, but the cysts have actually dried up really quickly, so I'm encouraged by that, but since my skin is still in a state that requires foundation I'm looking for recommendations. I'm sorry for the small novel, but I figured the more detailed I am the better the advice you may be able to provide. TIA! |

if you're looking for mineral makeup, give Everydayminerals (EDM) a try. it seems to be a purer mineral makeup then BE or Pur. the try me kit is free and gives you good trial to test. you just pay for ~$3-4 shipping. make sure to get a really good, soft synthetic brush so it doesn't scratch your face. EDM has some nicely priced and soft ones.
for a non-MMU foundation, i love Shu Uemura's Face Architect.

Thanks for the recommendation! I just ordered a couple of trial kits from EDM (one of the base powders and one of the finishing powders). |

I also love EDM users, it really will not hurt your skin, wash your face at night after every use, skin feels better, |

you're very welcome. keep us updated. if you cannot find your shade or do not like the EDM formulas, there are so many other mineral makeup companies besides bare escentuals. good luck. |

Combination Skin is partially oily and partially dry, or sometimes one or the other. You may have blemishes in certain areas, and sometimes you may also have dry patches. |
