I am looking into professional fake tan methods because I don't think I'd be capable or have the time and patience to do it myself at home, especially as home fake tan seems to only last a few days? I can't tan from the sun becuase I just burn and I don't wanna take any risks.
They have some new thing that's a booth that gives you a completely even tan in 60 seconds. I can't find any info on it really tho.
I have VERY pale skin so I would just be wanting a very slight tan so I don't look ill. It's meant to last 4-7 days but I expect with the body brushing and exfoliating shower puff I use it might last less time 
Anyone tried this or know any more about it? I have many questions, like does it go in your hair when you have it done? |

Yes, I have tried this!! Kind of exciting actually. I went to a place in TO about 2 years ago. You wear a little shower cap thing, so your hair is fine. I would make my appointment for the morning, and then before you go, exfoliate your entire body and put on moisturizer. Then you just get in the booth and this shower nozzle-like thing goes around and sprays you. Then wait a few mins and you can get dressed. As long as you really exfoliate first, it will last the 7 days. I went for 3 days in a row, then once a week to keep a "tan" all summer long. Also, they have different tan colours/strengths, so even if your fair, it will be ok!!  |

oo thanks for info, sounds promising.
What about on your face, presumably it doesn't last as long as your washing face (and hands) more often?
Also did it make your skin dry or oily?
I have oily / acne prone face so I'd be worried it might me break out. |

I've done this too, they call it the "mystic tan". It's the same as Faith said, you get in this booth & get sprayed, but the one I went to the nozzle just went up & down, and you first have your back to it, then turn around halfway & it does the front. Then, when I get out, I have to rub all the excess tanner off with a towel, and make sure I rub extra hard on the toes/ankles/knuckles/knees. Also, the bottom of my feet! Once I got the hang of it, my tans came out dark & even (I did the double strength). It can get expensive (about $25/per session) but I always get the packages so I save money that way, and I stay tan all summer...
I suffer from acne prone skin as well, and it hasn't caused any breakouts on my skin. The only thing I noticed, is that if you happen to have a pimple at the time you get it done, it can *tan* the pimple, turning it brown (and much harder to cover up!). But what I do, is take the barrier cream they give you for the bottom of your hands, and dab it on the pimples before I go in. Then, afterwards, I wipe it off. This keeps them from turning colors. |

I haven't had it done but it does look really natural and as light as you want it to be. Is not orange or anything at all.
Think it is worth a try for you. |

I've had it done on quite a few occasions now and it's fab!
I am also very pale and it has never looked too dark on me.
I have always been advised to shave any areas that you need to 24hrs in advance and then exfoliate the night before the tanning session, but we are told NOT to moisturise after we exfoliate or before the treatment as this can act as a barrier and prevent the tanning substance from penetrating the skin properly and evenly.
If you decide to have a go, the salon you choose should advise you of what you should and shouldn't do.
In terms of cost, over here in the UK we pay around £30 (approx $56) for a full body treatment.
Mine usually lasts for about 5 days.

i'm actually NOT a fan of the mystic tan. it doesn't last longer than a bottle tan. it is also very very expensive! like a bottle tan, it has that self tanner scent that follows you around until you shower. i also noticed one time after i got the mystic tan, as i was itching my arm that some of the tanner was coming off under my nails - gross!
i know you may have had problems with self tanners in the past (trust me, i have too), but please please give the following a try: jergens natural glow daily moisturizer. it is a moisurizing lotion you put on every day like a normal lotion, but it contains tanning agents so you build a very nice, natural tan. it DOES have that self tanner smell (theres no self tanner that doesn't have that smell). check out the following thread for more raves on this new tanner: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=5554 |

I must point out though,that I only have the mist on tans for when I have a special occasion - too expensive to have regularly!
Def like the sound of the Jergens - must see if we can get it over here in the UK

| Spray tan better for some busy people who can't really stop for a while. This could help you a little because it is easier to apply. |
