SO far I'm very happy with my new skin care routine for my face.

However, I've noticed that I still get some breakouts on my chest/back (exercise a LOT)and I have some lines that run up and down inbetween my chest. Aside from regular lotion, what would you recommend to help the skin on the rest of the body--especially chest area?

I made some sugar scrub with brown sugar and olive oil, which feels good, but I'd love some other suggestions! I honestly don't do much, so anything will likely help!

Thanks!! Very Happy

This may not help if its a bad case, but whenever I get mild breakouts on my back or chest I just use body lotion with salicylic acid in it. When I use it on a regular basis it stays very clear. Clean and Clear makes a face lotion with salicylic acid that I use on my body. I try to avoid putting other lotions in that area, but when I self tan its inevitable. Maybe you could try that Neutrogena acne clearing body scrub since it's got the salicylic acid in it. Don't underestimate salicylic acid for body breakouts.. when I was younger it didn't work for my face but always worked for my body. Also, if you get a bad zit on your body, put some Prid drawing salve on it and cover it with a bandaid... it'll be gone the next day.

Yes, prid drawing salve. Very old fashioned remedy that works wonders! If you search these boards for "Drawing salve" on two other threads besides this one come up... I'm kind of shocked about that, since this is a homeopathic treatment for cuts, acne, slivers, etc.. Infact, I'll start a new thread, explain what I know if it and see if anyone else has any experience with this.... Okay here's the thread:

I'm only 28 and I get lines up and down my chest. I hate em. I try to sleep on my back but always end up on my side somehow, but have been getting better at waking up on my back. They seem to be way worse when I am on my side. I have been trying vit.c on my chest followed with photolagen, so we'll see how that goes. Also, I have been putting camellia oil on it at night. I think if its dry the lines show up more.

Thanks for the replies. Money is tight right now, but I may try that neutrogena body scrub since I assume it's cheap. I also have Vit C serum, so I can try that as well. The acne is not bad, but probably from working out. As for the lines, probably too much sun and burning from when I was younger.

But my face skin is already changed and soft from my treatment, I'd hate to have crappy skin elsewhere!

Thanks again!

Razincane, I have the same thing with my chest area - looks like a river delta in the mornings and I absolutely would love some help on this one as I'm not much older than you!

pnw, don't know if you use self tanner but when I do the lines don't show up nearly as bad. I think seems I am so obsessed with them I notice them way more than anyone else. Then again maybe not. I mean there must be other people out there that look for things on other people. I know its not nice but I am always looking at peoples skin and comparing it to mine, and then I usually end up feeling worse about my own. I think I am my own enemy sometimes Laughing

I agree it's important to include the neck/chest area in our routines. For the longest time I nevered bothered, but now that I'm getting older I want to make sure I don't have a smooth face and wrinkly neck/chest! Sad I am been using a Vitamin C serum as well on my chest (it was too rich for my face) and then I'm also using up my Clinique Repairwear at night and my Clinique Superdefense during the day (since I've started a new skin care routine and don't use them on my face any longer). I suppose down the road I should invest in a product that is meant for that area.

After you work out, remember to take a shower right away. There is this great product from Kiehls called Tea tree oil body shampoo. I use this product in the shower on the body to help prevent breakouts.

The Kiehls Tea tree oil body shampoo is definitely another great idea for body acne. It reminded me of something I have right now called St. Ives Clear Pore Cleanser with Tea Tree. Its a big pump bottle (10 ounces) that says its a Purifying Facial but I use it just on my body every so often... Its a great cheap alternative to the Kiehls I would assume. I haven't tried the Kiehls but I like the St. Ives alot. Being someone who used to buy a lot of expensive products, I now buy alot of cheaper products and can honestly say I find some I like alot better. Here's a link to the st. ives...

Hi ladies,

I also have the 'lines' in the middle of my chest problem. Forget trying to sleep on your back if you are not used to it--a sleep specialist told me that in general we sleep accoridng to our circulation needs. that is, if you are not prone to sleeping on your back, you will probably wake up with numb feet and hands, etc. Don't know why this is. I sleep on my side, and my solution, which works perfectly, is to grab a bit of the covers and stuff them in between my breasts just before I nod off. I know it is funny, but it works. Smile
And as for a great body cleanser, why spend so much money on Kiehl's when Dr. Bronners liquid Castille soap is more concentrated and is basically the same thing. It is about 5x less expensive for a superior product. I love the lavendar--and it is made with real oils, not artificial scents like the Kiehl's (I used to hock Kiehls' products and have met the owners and my admiration for this company went way down in direct proportion to my familiarity with it--sorry! They are money hungry people.)

Hi again,
Since this post started, I finally broke down and bought Elizabeth Grant's Biocollasis, fully intending to debunk and return it. I don't want to be premature here, but holy cow, I have woken up two days in a row with a smooth chest! No lines! (and a lifted, tauter neck that is a fantastic bonus). Geez, this stuff is pricey but it is now officially my HG. Very Happy

OMG, 299.00? wow. I don't know if I would pay that much for a moisturizer. It looks good though, but would DEFINATELY have to try some samples first. Laughing

I'll have to check this out! I had bought some Elizabeth Grant skincare years ago, but it was too rich for me at the time. I'd love to try this product for my neck/chest area. I don't have too much problem with it yet, but I'd like to do something as a preventative.

The Neutrogena Acne Body Scrub, it really works and the best part, it's inexpensive. I was breaking out on my back and once I started using this, slowly went away. Love it. Very Happy

I saw something for lines on the chest just the other day... It was a heart shaped pad that sticks to the chest area at night and is treated with something...

I googled it, it is called Chest-A-Peel

It states:

Smooth Away Chest Wrinkles While You Sleep

Just as there are treatments for facial wrinkles, now there's a way to make your chest more youthful - no matter what your age! The Chest-A-Peel pillow pad helps erase the deep creases and wrinkles on your chest caused by aging, sun exposure or sleeping on your side. Wear it while sleeping, and wake up to a wrinkle-free decolletage. Or put it in place for a few hours to press away those unwanted wrinkles for smoother-looking skin. Washable and reusable.

I saw this on the http://www.shopathometv.com site for their blowout sale so I am not sure if they still have it as I just tried to get in and could not... It was listed in the health section and would be at a good price if you want to check it out.

Me, too-to some degree. I had a breast reduction last Oct. and there's not near as much to smush together when I sleep and unfortunatly I sleep on my side. Has anyone heard of or tried the Intima Breast Pillow? It's something you wear at night, it must of been made for those of us w/o SO or DH, LOL. Janet.

I had a hard time finding any information on the Biocollasis and I also could never justify $299 for a moisturizer. I got a good deal on shopathome 2 for 1 for $129 plus stretch payments and a 30 day Money back guarantee. They might be out of it at the moment. If anyone wants the ingredients, though, just let me know. And if anyone knows where we can get samples please tell us. I'll keep you all posted on my chest lines(hoping this isn't one of those "it worked awesome for the first week, and then...."

Yes, I use it all over my face, neck and chest. As for firming, I noticed the most difference on my chest and then some on the neck, but not much on my face. I guess it works better on the thinner skin. I haven't broken out yet and I am very prone to breakouts, but I also exfoliate once in a while, cleanse and use the clarisonic just before applying it and I use it sparingly. HTH
