what should i use too smooth out my horizontal neckbands?

Hi I am very new to this site and am unfamilar with cream and whats in them. Therefore I would like to ask those of you on this forum, who i am sure knows much more than I do, about creams and what they can do. I have just turned 26 and have 2 horizontal lines on my neck that dont seem to go away. My weight is normal and i eat well, i am aware of my posture and do neck exercises to try and stretvh them out but im getting little results. I have a bit of fatty tissue right under my chin so face on it looks like i have a double chin cause of the lines on my neck. Its quick devastating for me and is why i hate photos. Can any one suggest to me a cream that would help smooth out these lines (on of which is pretty deep) and perhaps a cream that would tighten the skin under my chin? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. This is the first attempt I have made to address it. Smile

You are not alone...I have 2 neck bands and NOTHING has made them go away. I have tried exercises, the STOP tool, Retin A, CPs, and dermarolling. Sad

Yeh...I hate to say this, but join the group. I have one neck band that just irks me beyond belief...but everything I have tried over the years has not done anything to improve it.

I just think the way they are formed makes it very hard to get rid of them.

I hate to agree but on this I believe you are 100% correct, they just don't go away maybe because we need to move our necks all the time even if there were anything that helps they just reform?

Someone told me that women have those horizontal neck lines after pregnancy. I certainly do have them, but do not remember when they came to my life.

Mine certainly aren't due to pregnancy, because I don't have any children!

We had a thread on this in the past...I think mine are due to dynamic movement.

I look down at my keyboard a lot, plus I read in bed a lot...both cause the neck to fold like that.

I met a woman who had a neck lift and liposuction twice. After the second time, her plastic surgeon recommended her to use those face garments for the neck (during the day or at work) that they use after plastic surgery because her job was involving a lot her neck, looking down. Since then, I set my laptop higher trying not to look down at it, kind of difficult ..hahaha
I don't know if the face garment would work.

I had a neck lift and I have one of those ugly neck bands. Emu oil has softened a bit and neck creams.

I've been dry skin brushing my face and neck for about a month trying to drain lymphs and get some circulation going. The lines are less pronounced now. Nothing major, nothing earth shattering, just enough for me to notice that they're a bit softer looking in the front. This gave me the incentive to keep dry brushing, which I love doing. Once in a while I's remember to put some cream on the neck.

Maybe try skin brushing?

Thanks everyone for your posts. Ok so if creams wont work what will? Botox? Or does one have to go under the knife to get rid of em!
Say i was to put cream on my neck what would is reccommended?
Eyebright if you got any positive results then keep doing it! You may notice even better results over the next coming months. What is dry brushing? I have no clue about the products on here Rolling Eyes

I've had a little bit of neck line results with Nia24 SSC and the lightstim. They are still there but shorter.

The vaculifter and LED have worked for me but only temporarily. I've just gone a couple of weeks without using any gadgets and lines and wrinkles returned to their before-state. It makes me tired to think that it takes at least six months of using the gadgets to get the lines looking halfway decent and then two weeks of doing nothing and they return to where they were.

Well, I am in your club, unfortunately. I have had several posts before about the neck lines. I, unfortunately have several rings (my neck is quite long). I am not overweight. I have no wrinkles anywhere else, except on my neck. they are stubborn, and I think it might not be possible to delete them completely. I think they might be genetic because I noticed the lines on the neck of my absolutely perfect 4 year old son. BUT! I have been working and will be working on them with no despair.

I have got them better, I think much better with exercises & Retinol complex cream. Now I will try Retin A (stronger than before), and then if needed Obagi NuDerm.

But if you tried it all & you can make a budget for more solutions, here is the bomb for them - Facial Fillers.

I was in Toronto Cosmetic Clinic and asked the head nurse there who does the fillers about possibility to do that. She was sure it would help, she ensured me she does the injections for a person who works in that clinic (a woman in her 40th) using some thicker filler and it erases the neck lines for that person very well. To all logic, she should be right! Why not? If the filler works in other area... nasal/labial area is used not less than neck... the filler helps there, so it should work for the neck too... But it will cost... Rolling Eyes

I've had them forever too. I remember in my 20s a "friend" saying I had "wrinkles" on my neck (I certainly don't/didn't, but she meant the neck bands).

All I can think of in my case is that I was a VERY chubby baby and thereafter a skinny kid/woman. Or it's hereditary!

It doesn't annoy me that much. I'm more bothered by the stringy neck that's starting to appear when I smile, now I'm getting older!

Last night I was looking into this online and noticed one of the docs on realself mentioned botox for horizontal neck lines.

If you google "necklace lines" and botox you will get quite a bit of info. Apparently they inject below and above the lines at intervals.

I read several places that its very important to have an experienced injector as some people under the wrong hands can experience airway issue Shock

It's food for thought anyway....

I went to have a free consultation at a cosmetic surgery and the nurse suggested fraxel laser. Any feedback regarding how successful that would be rather course lines?

My physical therapist once told me that my neck rings were due to bad posture, because I have a tendency to stick my head forwards from too much time spent in front of a computer screen. It has something to do with the neck muscles being overly lax. She said the way to fix it was to start tucking my head back and down, the way you make a double/triple chin more pronounced, and they should go away eventually. Needless to say I never tried it because my double chin is noticeable enough, I don't need to show the world a 3rd or 4th! Laughing

Hi all,
Thanks for all your feedback. I have been to 4 fraxel laser sessions over the last few months and have noticed it has significantly reduced the necklines. The bottom line has basically dissapeared and the top one not nearly as prominent. The laser has tightened the skin on my neck and under my chin which has reduced the weight on the lines. I have also been doing alot of yoga which has improved my posture alot. I highly recommend that you all do the same cause it seems to be working for me. The nurse at the clinic gave me rationale skin refining serum to assist with maintainance. Does anyone know anything about this product?

I have them too!

Must admit mine have really only gotten noticable since I got my laptop, I spend so much time lying in my bed with my laptop on my tummy, so looking down all the time, this has definately made them alot worse, its driving me crazy!

I had surgery in April which meant I had to rest alot and since them which is what? nearly six months they have come with a vengence. I have been using a serum from Paula's Choice and a L'oreal neckcream, its helps abit but I dont think anything is going to remove them. Crying or Very sad

I have heard Nectifirm it good but the postage to Australia was more than the product, so I haven't purchased. The neck is an extremely hard area to work on I find. I use an LED but we are not supposed to use it over the thryoid area, and that is where my neckbands are?? Very annoying.
May I ask what exact type of fraxel laser are you using? and is it expensive? thanks

Bermie - i believe fraxel laser repair was used and because the nurse couldnt garrantee it would workshe deducted the fee from 650 to 150 per session. I was lucky. To make it worthwhile its also best to couple such treatment with posture exercises and to just be generally more aware of what your neck is doing. Like try and lie on your stomach or side while on the computer. If you do carry forth with fraxel make sure you tell them you have already had surgery. Im surprised that the improvements only lasted 6 months, i hope that isnt the same with fraxel. I guess time will tell.
Bex - I think with Botox you must have injections on a regular basis and keep going back alot to maintain it. With fraxel you do a few within a few months and then leave it for 6 months and then go again if required.

So no one knows anything about Rationale products?

I didn't have facial or neck surgery..lol, I think you have misunderstood me. I had general surgery, hysterectomy actually , that is why I had to bed rest for quite a while!!

If I had plastic surgery on my neck I would definately want it to last longer than 6 months. Very Happy
