I was just thinking about this tonight and found this thread, but no one answered your question! Maybe someone will now.

Hi my sushi secret & amylola,

I don't have a Clarisonic ... but I do use an electric toothbrush [there was a thread about using an electric toothbrush in the same manner as the clarisonic a while back]. I use it with OCM all the time.

The toothbrush [using the softest head ... and by the way, this toothbrush is used only for my face Laughing ] is great for getting into smaller places ... like the bottom sides of my nose etc.

OCM and it work very well together. It's just a mechanical massage instead of the manual massage portion of the routine.

Mary

Well I have since figured this out. I use OCM at night to remove my makeup (with my hands) and then when done, use another cleanser, usually a cream cleanser. THen I use the clarisonic in the morning in the shower, actually every other morning. The alternate mornings I use Epidermx in the shower. THis has really worked for me. My skin is the best its been in forever!

I tried it today and really liked it as well. I'm glad because I wanted to start OCM, but I love that Clarisonic!

So, you don't think the oil would clog the Clarisonic brush?

Wow . . that would be an awesome cleansing!

Aloha,
I'm new to this site and was wondering what "OCM" stands for?

Is there a place where I could look up EDS acronyms? It is sometimes frustrating when it isn't specified in the beginning of the thread.

It stands for Oil Cleansing Method, and if you do a search for OCM you will find lots of info. I use it myself and love it.

I've used the Clarisonic with the Burt's Bees Orange Oil Cleanser. It works well.

I have used OCM 4 times so far and love it as it can get rid of my stubborn hardened sebum.

After all, most users of Clarisonic have positive feedback of this gadget; therefore, I'd like to know if anyone here who has used OCM & Clarisonic would say OCM can replace this electronic cleansing gadget.

Yes, I, too, would love to hear how people are combining OCM with the Clarisonic *at the same time*. Does it work well? How does one protect the Clarisonic brush? I assume you would have to clean the Clarisonic brush after every use then, yes?

Hi CM5597,

From your signature, I know that you own Clarisonic.

How do you find Clarisonic vis-a-vis OCM?

Hi Summer2004 Smile

You know, it's hard for me to tell yet which I prefer...I only started using both a few months ago.

I love that the Clarisonic is fast to use and seems to reduce the number of clogged pores I get. Just this weekend, I wasn't able to use it for ~ 3 days and my skin got a few extra zits (it's been very hot here, so I've been sweating a lot recently Smile)...so that seems like compelling evidence.

On the other hand, OCM seems to moisturize my skin and get more of the glunk out of my nose pores...I mean, I can literally see and feel a lot of the white and blackheads that come up. The problem is that it takes longer (~10-15 min vs 1 min for the Clarisonic) that I just don't do it regularly. Plus, occasionally I do stupid things like slightly burn myself with the steam, which can't be good Sad I don't quite feel like I've gotten the OCM technique down well enough to do it more quickly and efficiently (I think it takes only like ~ 5-7 min for most people) and to know what it's full potential is for my face, if that makes sense.

So the jury is still out for me...I do want to do OCM more regularly and then really compare the two to see which is better, but I haven't had a chance to do so yet.

But I have heard people who swore that OCM was superior to everything else they tried (including Clarisonic) and other people who swore that Clarisonic was superior to everything else they tried (incl. OCM)...It was enough that I felt compelled to try both...I just haven't finished that trial yet and have been particularly slack with doing OCM regularly... Smile

HTH Smile

cm5597,

My lazy approach or relaxing is to apply the oil and massage while I watch a little TV and I don't steam just really really warm water on a wash cloth to remove the oil when done. I have used the method for years and wouldn't give it up for anything. Haven't splurged on the Clarisonic so can't compare the 2, just an easy way to OCM. Very Happy

I use my Clarisonic with OCM and can't see any reason why not. I do this in the shower in the evening to remove my makeup. Afterwards, I wipe off any oil left on the skin with a washcloth. To cleanse the brush, I just use some soap and water.

Thanks, Darkmoon! That is helpful motivation to hear how much you love OCM Smile How long does it take you per day as a long-term user? My only problem is that I don't currently have any extra downtime (no TV in the house) when I'm not using my hands...work will probably continue to keep me very busy for the next year, so any time for OCM has to add onto the length of my skincare routine, which is why I don't currently do it regularly... Sad

Keliu, how do you combine OCM and Clarisonic? Do you just massage the oil into your face for 5-7 or so minutes, then use your Clarisonic, and then wipe off the excess with a washcloth?? Or, do you do something else? Thanks so much!! Smile

Basically yes - but I don't always massage for a full 5 minutes or longer. I mostly just use OCM as I would any other cleanser. I still find it the most effective way of removing makeup and preventing breakouts.

Thanks so much, Keliu! That's very helpful Smile

Maybe I am just spending too long doing OCM and it will more sustainable if I just limit myself to 5 minutes or something like that...
