Just read recently about the wonderful benefits of vitamin C and I was wondering what are your recommendations for vit C. I know there are DIY, but to be honest, I'd rather buy a brand one as opposed to ordering all the ingredients online. |

I use a very simple homemade vit C serum which is just Ascorbic acid and water. Seems to do the trick and is much cheaper than buying it. YOu need to be careful where you buy since many companies dye their vitamin C serum into a yellowish/brownish tone therefore a customer won't know if the vit. C is actually oxidized (Vit. C is supposed to be clear in color, once it's oxidized it turns yellow-brown and therefore of no use to the skin) |

I agree with BCGirl, I make my own, really the only way to assure it's fresh and not oxidized. |

There's also the powder variety such Osmosis's Vitamin C Powder with liposomally coated L-ascorbic Acid (10%), D-alpha Tocopherol and L-glutathione. You simply mix it with a serum in the palm of your hand and apply. Philosophy is another with their Turbo Booster C Powder. |

I am using crystalized vitmain C (a solid form of vitamin C, so that it is much stable and not being oxidized that easy). I dissolve it (just a very little amount, ~1/3 of one rice grain) with water-soluble serum (~1 pump) and mix them and apply to my face in the morning, it works very well.
Before using the crystalized vitamin C form, i had used Cellex-C and skinceuticals c e ferulic. They are ok. but the solution turned yellowish to yellow-orange after few weeks which mean the vitamin C content has oxidized. |

ok please let us know!
Also, what's the difference between MAP and Vit C? I know MAP is converted to Vit C by the skin, but what is the benefit of this route? To prevent oxidation? |

Make your own!You will need:
1) Water
2) Powdered ascorbic acid
3) A sealable air-tight dark small container
Put warm water into a 100 ml container, add 1 tsp of powder, shake to the crystals to be delved.
Keep the bottle in the fridge. |

If I were buying, it would most likely be this one;

I've never been disappointed with the samples of "PSF" products I've received from EDS.
I also agree with the DIY venture, for the very best that vit C has to offer.. |

you need to choose the L-ascorbic acid instead b/c this form of ascorbic acid is what the skin can absorb. |

Hi everyone!
Lets see if I understand... L-ascorbic acid or ascorbic acid? Which one is better? And btw, can I mix the vit C tablets that everyone can find in the chemist with water to obtain a serum? |

L-ascorbic acid is better. Do not use tablets (they contains tons of other ingredients), buy powder online (e.g., from SkinActives). |

That has given me blackheads where I never had them before. I am seeing my dermatologist in a little while and will ask her what I should do. I may just wind up using it on my neck and back of hands and arms because I'm not going to throw away money. |
