A few months ago, I embarked on a journey to research what to do about my sagging cheeks. I visited both a derm and a ps. The derm injected Perlane into the "apples" of my cheeks and it did nothing to improve the appearance of sagging - I suspect because more than one syringe is required in this fashion. I will add that she also injected Perlane around the corners of my mouth and this was a wonderful solution to sagging in that area.
The PS recommended a surgical cheek lift and I am considering this, but for various reasons, wish to delay surgery for awhile - and neverthless, a filler may still be needed after surgery.
Not one to give up easily, I visited a second derm. this past Saturday. He injected Perlane in a semi-circular, half moon type pattern around the base of each cheek bone and! voila! I now have cheeks again and this cause the depressions in my NLs to go away! I am thrilled and hope this lasts awhile.

WOW
i heard that perlane or juvederm ultra plus are the best for cheeks. Did it give your cheeks more volume or a mini-lift effect?? |

I remember your posting from before. That is GREAT that you found something to improve the area with out surgery. Did either derm say how long the perlane will last? |

Hi BF,
This is good to know. When I visit the physician at the medspa that I go to, I will definitely ask her about placing the filler where yours is and see if this will give me the "lift" that I'm looking for. I keep thinking that I'll be in the market for a mid-face lift very soon!
It seems that most physicians want to place the filler on top of the cheek bone rather than below. Thanks for sharing your results! |

I need to clarify my earlier info - it was not exactly an inverted semi-circle below the cheek bone, rather it was a semi-circle line along the cheekbone - sorry for any confusion.
The earlier derm. just placed the filler in one spot on the apple of the cheek.
So basically, the difference was a line along the cheekbone versus a single spot on the apple of the cheek.
I do not know how long the Perlane will last, but I do know that each injection of filler I get seems to add a "layer" which over time, results in fewer and fewer visits over time, if that makes any sense.
