Hello Ladies,
I am ready to add those Green Smoothie drinks to my present arsenal of nutritional supplements, and I know that many of you are already taking these drinks everyday. So, I was wondering if you wonderfully informative ladies could share with me the benefits you see from these green drinks and also the flavor that you find most appealing to your taste buds. They do seem to come in a large variety of flavors.

Thank you kindly for any information you provide.

I swear by Dragonherb's Tonic Alchemy, herbmaker to the stars. I use it, several of my doctor's started using it after my recommendation and my son uses it.
As far as taste, its not yummy, but I mix a scoop with OJ and berry DanActive and it makes a great smoothie.
Results, I can't say any thing extremely definitive other than energy, mental clarity, feel better and my skin has more of a glow of good health. Great after a workout.

Thank you AnnieR, I have never heard of Dragon Herbs, however I just went on the website and it does look very interesting.

I would like to know if you found that taking this has helped you with your immune system to ward of cold and flu? I just had one of the worst colds in my life, thanks to my boyfriend bringing it home to me, so I think I need something to help me have a stronger immunity against those pesky viruses.

I began daily green smoothies last summer, then over the winter took six trans-atlantic flights and several domestic flights - never got the first sniffle & attributed the strengthened immune system to the smoothies (I also include yoghurt most mornings).

I almost ordered Dragon Herbs, Tonic Alchemy about 2 months ago...... I saw a warning statement under this item at iherb:

Ca Prop 65 Warning: The use of this product will expose you to lead, a substance known to the state of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Daily breathing in CA alone will result in lead exposure exceeding CA Prop 65 warning level for birth defects or reproductive harm. The lead content of this product is lower than the FDA standard for lead in bottled water.

I have used 2 bottles of the Greens Plus. While I think it is a great way to get your veggies in if your diet is not all that great, I have not noticed any improvement either physical or mental with these drinks.

Thanks for your honest review, Rileygirl. I take many nutritional supplements, however I must say that I haven't really noticed any improvement physically and mentally either. This remains a great mystery to me. You would think that there would be some noticable changes when one takes a concentrated amount of a certain food, vitamin, mineral etc., but I have yet to find any.

There is a friend of my sister who is about 63 yrs. old and she swears by Chia seeds. She has been eating those things daily for the past 5 or more years, but in all honesty they haven't done a thing for her. She looks old and wrinkly and has numerous health problems. She's always trying to get converts to Chia seeds, but after looking at her I thought to myself, no way. I have yet to find that magic something that improves the tone, texture, elasticity to the skin and makes the mind sharp.

I am with you, leelee. I am still looking for that magic potion myself, but I sure have not found anything that I take that makes any difference! (I went on the Chia seed bandwagon, as well, and didn't see any improvement with those either.)

I have never heard about the lead, I will have to call the company reps and find out more.
It does boost my immune system, that's my favorite part.

I do my green smoothies with just organic veggies... I just don't feel like a powder can be a substitute for the real thing (dunno, just my own hunch!).

I just buy organic fruits and veggies and make sure I include ones with different colors.

I also usually grow my own green sprouts which is a great way to get cheap, fresh, organic greens.

I also include some sea veggies like sea kelp, dulse, nori, etc.

Have I felt a difference?? Mmm..I've always been pretty healthy so I haven't noticed any major change. The biggest difference I've ever felt health-wise was when I diminished my carb intake by quite a bit and started eating mostly fruits, vegetables, nuts and whole grains. THEN I really couldn't believe how much more energy, how much lighter, how much happier I started feeling!

Annie, do you still take the product? Also, do they offer a good RETURN policy, if I am not happy with it? Thanks

I've got a call in to their company now. Since I have been taking that for over 7 years, I want to know. When I get an answer I will post it for sure. My ear, nose and throat doctor takes it and when I called and asked him, he said he researched it and had never found anything about lead, so he is looking into it too.

I did get a reply and explanation, which I feel extremely comfortable with, but that is strictly personal. It won't change my usage.
The company rep sent me a 6 page attachment to an email, which I will paste just a small excerpt from and everyone will thank me for that limitation!

"Our company’s lead quality control standard is 10 μg/day, the same standard FDA sets for bottled water
that governs artesian well water, mineral water, spring water, well water as well as water produced using
distillation, reverse osmosis, absolute micron filtration and ozonation. We are confident that our standards
are the highest standard applicable to dietary products.
What is Dragon Herbs doing to minimize lead content?
The best way to ensure low or non-detectable lead content is through extremely careful sourcing of raw
materials and by monitoring and controlling every step of the manufacturing process. Dragon Herbs has
built a world wide reputation for its quality based on its thoughtful selection of raw materials from the
best sources in the world. We go to all extremes to make sure that the raw materials are naturally grown
and that they come from pristine regions free from pollutants. We source most of our ingredients from
“Di Dao” sources, meaning from authentic sources. These Di Dao sources tend to be in remote mountains
and forests. No other company puts more emphasis on raw material selection than Dragon Herbs."[/i]
Seems iherb lists it because they are a third party supplier.
Anyway, hope that helps.

Hey Ladies,

I don't drink smoothies but I do drink a "green drink". It is just fresh greens like:
romaine lettuce,
kale (makes it really dark green which has a lot of chlorophyll!),
celery,
green pepper,
parsley, etc. I also throw in a green apple. I was told by a chemist/nutritionist not to mix any other fruit with vegetables besides an apple or pear. It should truly be a "green" drink. At first I was sceptical but I have a dear friend who does this everyday for her whole family and when the doctor found she had colon cancer,(operated and took out 12 in. from her colon) she truly believes that this concoction plus God's healing hand, saved her life! The doctor said he'd never seen anything like this cancer. It was broken up and on it's way out!!!
The first night she made this drink for me in my home I thought I would gag but I truly have had worse. I came to the realization that everything I put in my mouth doesn't have to taste great especially if it can heal my body.

The next day my husband asked me why I was in such a good mood and the only thing I changed was having the green drink the night before! That day I made the decision to make this drink at least one time a day for my boy, my husband and me. I drink 8 oz. It can kill and prevent cancwer. It put oxygen your cells. Believe me, everything we put in our bodies either help or hurt us. My younger, precious sister passed away from cancer at the age of 34 and she never ate fruits and vegetables and did NOT believe food had anthing to do with health.
I have tried the green powder too but I never "feel" any different.
You ladies have helped me so much with my beauty routine and I'm hoping I can help someone with my experience.

Blessing,Jennifer
