Sorry if this has been asked before, I did read a bit of this thread, what are the differences between the argon and neon gasses? Which color is which and lastly since the gas is contained inside a glass bulb how do they act differently on the skin? Sorry again for all the questions but this gets quite confusing, has my brain doing flip-flops. Very Happy

This is from the Palacia website:
Quote:
What Is High Frequency Current?
The high frequency current is an alternating current called the “Tesla Current”. This current can produce a 60, 000 to 200, 000 hertz frequency, depending on how it is regulated. (The frequency indicates the repetition of the current per second). High frequency treatments may involve placing the electrode directly on the skin (direct high frequency) or leaving a gap between the electrode and skin (indirect high frequency). The glass electrodes are filled with a gas, either Argon (produces a violet / blue ray) or Neon (produces an orange / red ray).
The Difference Between Argon (violet-blue) and Neon (orange-red) Gas:

•Argon – used on Acne-type lesions
•Neon – used on general Oily-type skins or to create warmth in localized area for improved product penetration.

From everything that I've read, there doesn't seem to be much difference between the gasses. Most of us have purchased the Neon.

Dreamweaver, I read somewhere that the neon electrodes lasts longer than the argon glass. It's a matter of preference... I have argon gas because I like the color violet. Keliu is right they both serve the same purpose.

Thank You, ladies one and all, I appreciate your quick and thorough responses. I will do more reading on these links posted here. I have very fair, normal to slightly dry skin so no acne issues. I have read about the healing properties to some extent and quite frankly was a bit skeptical? I see that some of you have verified these claims. It means much more hearing positive reviews from real people~~users. Once again I thank you all who have contributed to this thread and responded to my inquiries.

Dreamweaver - I have used my HF for some healing properties with a bit of success. I had whiplash several years back and have tried using the HF on the back of my neck and my upper back where it gets knots and could always use a massage to loosen things up. I can feel a tingly feeling when I run the HF over(more of a 'down') the spots and it feels like 'fluid' is running out. I would think that might be fluid retention that one gets from inflammation. I do get massages occasionally and that is what the masseuse tries to do - to push that 'fluid' (for lack of a better term) out of the area. My neck will feel less tense afterwards, so I feel it helps there.

I also use it on an arithitic finger that just developed this year (thanks to a sport injury!). The swelling from a mucous cyst has gone down and it is less painful.

I do also use my AALS on these areas, so some benefit comes from that as well. But, I can definitely tell some fluid is draining in my neck from the HF device and I feel a bit looser after using it.

The HF also helps to heal blemishes faster for me.

The HF has done wonders for my neck - I have a spur and sometimes can't turn my head to the left at all. Frequent treatments with the HF wand keeps it pain free and mobile. It also fixed up my arthritic knee - after two treatments

My husband thinks I'm complete insane with this. However, he has a bad shoulder and was so desperate he begged "zap me with that stupid thing". He woke up the next morning to report that he could move his arm again and the pain was gone. He said it wasn't a bit better, it was much, much better. Maybe it's the increased blood circulation that helps.

I found High Frequency to be completely useless for my arthritic knees, but I found it immensely helpful for hair growth(even my hairdresser commented on it), for acne, for product penetration. It was the only thing that enabled me to get electrolysis treatments and not be covered with furuncles for months at a time.

I think it is one of the best beauty gadgets I ever bought.

sigma, how do you use it for product penetration? Do you add the product first and then use the HF over it or? And is there any wait time? TIA!

Havana,

I basically apply the products and then immediately do HF - sort of following what Tony Zavasta demonstrates onwww.beautifulonraw.com.

I use it on my hair for 5 minutes with a comb electrode, and for a minute or so on my face at the most with a mushroom electrode, then with a pointer electrode go over specific problem areas - like pimples, etc.

Also, anyone who has broken capillaries or is prone to easily get them should use HF with caution.

Yippee, I got mine in the mail today! Smile However, I didn't realize the insert that says not to use if pregnant. I've been trying to conceive for sometime, so if it "happens" then I'll stop using it.

Otherwise, I am so excited to use it tonight!

Not really! They are a professional salon device that is supposed to lift the skin, smooth out fine lines and build collagen and elastin. But like every other gadget that I've ever used, it's not a magic wand - I don't see any major visible anti-aging effects. However, at only 5 minutes for a treatment for the whole face it's very quick and easy to do. After long term use I do think my skin is more refined and I have less breakouts.

It definitely does kill bacteria and viruses such as pimples and cold sores and many of us have found it useful in treating aches and pains. I think my scalp and hair have benefited from it as well.

Here's a link to the clinical study carried out by DermaWand:

Thank you, Keliu. I have a Dermawand, but feel like I need more oomph Wink. At this point, I really don't have breakout issues. For the first time EVER, my eyes are getting the "hooded" effect. My upper lids are looking loose and puffy.
My under eyes are not very wrinkled, but are sunken in. I'd love to attack my lips lines (which just recently became quite noticeable). I am willing to make the $ and time investment for the appropriate device to address my issues.
I appreciate your input and help. Smile

Me too! I recently turned 61 - it just doesn't get any easier - and, unfortunately, there's no magic bullet. However, at a recent visit to the skin doctor he told me my collagen level was very good for my age. I suppose I have to attribute that to the effort I put in with my skin gadgets - and Retin-A.

If you like the DermaWand - I'm sure you'll love the Palacia device (or similar).

Quick update from me...I haven't been doing any full facial treatments with this but my husband has used the comb attachment and it's super easy. I've been "sparking" pimples and I'm just totally blown away!! Smile Within 24 hours later my pimple is gone. I even "sparked" a cyst and that went away fairly quickly. This is great because now I won't pick at my pimples or have to use an acne cream. Smile That alone is a lifesaver.

This booklet of instructions also warns about not using if pregnant and also if someone has a pacemaker, MY instructions from the derma wand didn't have those warnings, or the following?

You basically ground yourself and hold the bulb, and also your "client" does the same.

One thing I will say is I see a bit of a lift on the brows and a few tiny moles have disappeared.

Any updates DM? I so hope this is working for you.

Bumping this back up for DM

Hi, Everyone, I really need some advice, please. I posted on the the 6th that my eyes are getting that hooded look. Well, they're worse! This morning I could harldy believe it. Shock I've used my AALS for a few months faithfully. From time to time, I use my Facemaster. I probably use that for a couple of weeks at a time. The past couple of weeks, I've been using my DermaWand eveyday, concentrating on my newly very visible lip lines and my eyes. I've recently received, and have been using, Bright I Serum from Skinactives. So, presently, I'm only using DermaWand, AALS, and Bright I Serum.
Honestly, I would just like to know what the $#^& is going on. Mad Why do you think my "hoods" are getting worse? I suppose my real question is am I doing something or using something to make them worse? As I mentioned before, I'm willing to make the $ and time investment for the appropriate device. Thank you so very much.

Sorry to hear that Mars. I don't know what could be contributing to your hooded lids.

I can tell you I had some success with my own hooded lids by using copper peptides on them. They firmed up considerably. You can also find firming from using a DMAE product - I use one from Skin Biology called Two Timing Tightener. The CPs are from them too.
http://www.reverseskinaging.com/

Read about CPs on this thread:
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?tid=37752

Good luck in your dilemma.

If things are looking worse, I would stop what you are doing - maybe you are treating the area too aggressively. Personally, I'm not convinced that HF can provide a lift to the skin. I don't believe it's made any improvement to my jawline. But I have a very negative attitude towards skin lifting - I've never had anything work (including topicals). As for my own hooded eyelids - I had them surgically removed and it was the best money I ever spent.

You might like to PM Antonia - she had success with lifting her eyes with topicals, but I forget which ones she was using.

Time for my review of the "D'arsonval" HF which I bought 5 of, the deal was too good to pass on.

Killing bacteria and virus's this is incredible, I got a nasty rash (from heat) under the breast and it was red and hurt....a few treatments and it's gone.
My youngest daughter has had a stubborn wart on her finger for the last 9 years, we froze it, used every OTC wart remover and it kept coming back. 6-7 treatments zapping it and it's gone.

The comb I love I can tell it's stimulating the scalp I don't have thinning hair but would like to keep it that way. It just feels great to use anyway so it's a nice treat.

Pimples I don't have, but after seeing the wart and a few other boo boo's heal so well I have no doubt this would zap them away.

Over all skin tone is better I do use it over my serums and even oils to help penetrate them.

It's helped a sore knee, never diagnosed with arthritis but it's bothering me and this feels awesome.

The unit itself is very very sturdy and no broken bulbs/electrodes. They don't screw in but they are tight after insertion, I use it over a tile floor and it's totally upside down a great deal. It's larger than the derma-wand but small enough to travel with and comfortable to hold, and I have really small hands.

Sorry I kept everyone waiting, but I wanted to use it long enough to report honestly about how the unit held up, and that whatever effects I saw were truly lasting, it didn't disappoint at all.

I mentioned this back when I first started using mine, but neglected to say anything in the above review, there is some lifting so far with continued use! Nothing earth shattering but I will take what I can get, mainly for me it's above the lids that I use it and lids aren't sagging as much. I would not use directly on the eyelids, but from the crease up. Smile

Re hair treatments: I have very, very fine baby hair which is cropped very short. If I don't comb it properly at the back you can see my scalp. This tends to annoy my husband who has a habit of yelling at me "You've got bald patches at the back" - just what a girl wants to hear!

However, he said to me the other day, "Your bald patches aren't showing any more" - so I said, "I think my hair might be a bit thicker" and he said "It definitely is". So I'm putting this phenomenon down to my nightly hair treatments with HF.

Hello Keliu.
I am so confused.....when you said I have very fine hair and I have to comb it just right not to see the bald spot....that is me to the t! Please tell me exactly which device you use and please what products you use on your hair. Thank you very much Question Wink
