| Hello all that are better informed about this subject than I am.. is this fact or fiction that it causes delayed damage to hair down the road?? I keep reading about people that have awesome results, then their hair breaks off six months later. Anyone have any input on this? I know everyone has different experiences, but hoping you will share. |

Hi
my salon was doing the brazilian blowdry, but we have decided to stop because of my staff feeling ill after doing the treatment on clients. this happened to 2 of my staff, we were doing about 3 treatments a week, but found we had clients always changing and cancelling their appointments sowhen you book out 2 to 3 hours per client it wasnt worth us carrying on anyway.
the one we were using is meant to be chemical free but there must have been somthing in it to make people feel ill.
as regards to the hairbreaking 6 months later, i did wander when we were doig the treatment we had to use the straightners very very slow, i think this would be the reason the hair could probably become fragile rather then the actual treatment itself.
i even had the bowdry myself and found it ok not fabulous. |

Hi everybody!
I have to say that it does damage a bit your hair if you have long hair but the results are worth it. The only problem I seem to have is how long the good effect lasts. After 3 weeks only I am left with my fizzy hair again  Does any of you experience the same problem?
Other thing: is it best to dye your hair before or after the brazilian blowout?

| Thanks for all the posted information. I guess I'll pass on the Blowout. My hairdresser will have to work hard and give me a cut to suit my hair's "personality". |

I did my own just last week - on the inspiration of EDS member secretly...
I used Global Keratin - followed the you tube instructions and I love, love, love the results.
I have thick hair past my shoulders, dark blonde (with lighter highlights) tending to frizz in the summer. This has made it more manageable, straighter, glossier. It takes less to blow dry it and I don't need to straight iron as much as I did previously.
I baby my hair with sulfate free shampoos and deep condition frequently - I also use coconut oil.
I am AMAZED at how well this product performed. I have had other treatments but nothing has worked like this.
It does have formaldehyde - I think it is 2%. Use ventilation - windows wide open. I actually had my head out of one window at times when I was using the straightener. |

Anyone considering thest treatments may wish to investigate the risk involved on their own. just a few sites that have information, many claim to be safe yet are found to have much higher levels than claimed.

Scrutton started investigating and discovered that other beauticians who suffered similar symptoms had been exposed to dangerous levels of formaldehyde; a chemical the National Cancer Institute calls a cancer-causing substance. (Insert your own bad high school biology class memories of dissecting frogs preserved in the stuff here.)
Brazilian Blowout claimed to be formaldehyde free, but Scrutton was suspicious. She contacted the Oregon Health & Science University's Center for Research on Occupational and Environmental Toxicology.

Last year's $250 hair-care sensation, Brazilian Blowout, promised to leave your locks looking sleek, healthy and frizz-free without formaldehyde.
The secret was methylene glycol, a very special active ingredient, it turned out. It's definitely not formaldehyde, but dry it out, say with a hair dryer, and voila, it's formaldehyde, a frog preservative and carcinogen.
They tested samples of Brazilian Blowout from the Portland salon and found formaldehyde levels between 8.85 percent and 10.6 percent — far higher than the 0.2 percent considered safe by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Panel. |
