I have previously used skinceuticals vit C&E with Ferulic and loved it. I found LovelySkin's knockoff version.
Has anyone tried it and is it comparable. Any help would be appreciated.
Here's the ingredients..what do you think?
Lou
Cyclomethicone, tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, tridecyl salicylate, dimethiconol, hexyldecanol, bisabolol, cetyl hydroxyproline palmitate, stearic acid, brassica campestris (Rapeseed) sterols, tocopherol, ethylhexyl ferulate and Camellia oleifera (Green Tea) extract |

From the looks of the ingredient, it looks like it will be more like the Skinmedica C which is more of a cream and not a liquid. Also, the LovelySkin is using tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate and not l-ascorbic, which Skinceuticals uses. I am not sure if Bethany has tried this or not, but I know she has used several of the LovelySkin products. |

Here is the ingredient list for Skincentuals CE&F for comparison, they are quite different formulas.
Water, Ethoxydiglycol, L-Ascorbic Acid, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Laureth-23, Alpha Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol, Triethanolamine, Ferulic Acid, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate

Thank-you soooo much I knew I would get the answer I was looking for here..When the kids get a little older and I have more time I hope to get more knowledgeable with ingredients and be able to help as you all do. I'm thinking of trying Obagi C rx system so I will be researching that in my free time.
Rileygirl, are you on the C system..My hyperpigmentation over my top lip and on my chin is driving me crazy so I think this may be the way to go. I did it a few yrs back but wasn't very dedicated. The pigmentation did get much better but it is back with a vengeance..
Thanks again,
Lou |

Hi, Lou. I actually am using the C-RX line right now to prep for a TCA peel. How bad is your hyperpigmentation above your lip and chin and how dark is it? My opinion on C serums is this, some people respond to them and others do not. My favorite C is the Skinceuticals C, E, Ferulic. I saw some lightening of pigmentation in 3 months of using that product and that really is the only C (other than the clarifying serum with HQ in it from Obagi) that has made any difference in my skin. I think if you have deep and/or dark pigmentation, the best line out there is Nu Derm. It can get rough at times and you really need to be dedicated to using all the products for the entire time and in the correct amounts - but it works. If you don't want to go through that process you could give the Skinceuticals a try for 3 months and see how your skin reacts to that. I think you would at least have an idea how and if your skin will respond to a C serum. That is the less expensive way to start out would be to just use the SC in the morning and a retinoid at night with a really good sunscreen and see how your skin looks in 3 months. HTH! |
