Hi,

I started Differin for acne and acne scars about 2 weeks ago and now I have even more acne! Is this normal? If so, how long does it usually take for things to turn around?

Thanks for any advice,
Jen

From what I know Differin (and other products like that) purges the skin out of its 'dirt' and makes your skin look worse for a while before it gets better.

It's normal, from what I've gathered Smile

It's normal with most acne treatments. Your skin should start to improve within 4-6 weeks.

It definitely can. I would stick with it.
However if you are using the cream version some have issues with base ingredients.

Also are you using anything anti-bacterial? That will help clear things up as your pores clean out.

Thanks for all the help! Yes, I am using an anti-bacterial cleanser so I'll continue to do so. Hopefully this will clear up relatively soon- I just have to be patient (not easy to do with my skin!)

Thanks so much!

I think Differin is awesome! It took s few months for it to really come in effect.

I remember acne getting worse before it got better. I figure it's beacuse it is an exfoliant and that's just what happens when you peel away the layers. Hang in there though, it's great stuff

Whew! I am really glad you wrote that. Gave me some hope. My acne is getting pretty bad and I am not sure how much of it is hormones or Differin at this point- but regardless, if I just hang in there with the Differin it sounds like I'll get some good results. I think I normally give up on products way too early so I never see the benefits.

I am also hoping this stuff can help with acne scars and wrinkles!

I've been on a few bouts of Differin. The first time took a few months to get things under control and that was in conjunction with antibiotics.

The other times took less time but I also wasn't as anxious for it to start working as I knew it would eventually get there.

Don't forget your sunscreen on Differin. The scars become harder to fade if they are pigmented from the sun.

Differin helps with peeling away the top layer of skin and people say that the vitamin A (and presuming its derivatives) is great for wrinkles!

I hope yours gets there really soon too!
