I moved to a new area a few years ago and am finaly getting settled with all new dr's.
I noticed at the dentist that he had brochures for botox and fillers. I go the eye dr, same thing. I thing part of the reason is that dr's see it as easy money.

I'm sure they have good knowledge of facial structure but I cant imagine getting these things done at the dentist or eye dr. I'm thinking there is no way they can have enough real life experience with these injectables.

I just find it a bit scary that it seems you can get things done almost anywhere lately. I think alot of people think there is no risk with fillers but even with experienced injectors things can still go wrong. If it didn't go right I'd sure want some one with alot experience to know the right thing to do.

Even scarier then injectabels, when I was looking for a Gyn, I found one that also does breast augmentation, tummy tucks and lipo. This dr may be an excellent Gyn but to do plastic surgery on the side was a real turn off to me.

I have noticed that too. Last time we went to our ENT/allergist he also had them. I was so annoyed, really? My husband snores so much louder since his operation (like putting headers on a car), so I will not trust you with my fillers, thanks so much!
Next is JiffyLube!!!!

You might be on to something with the Jiffy lube Laughing
If people can just synchronize oil changes with botox, about every 3 months would work out perfectly.

I totally agree!! There were big ads at a medical walk in centre I was at for botox, ect.

The walk in was a very scummy looking place, I could not believe any-one would come here to have procedures done by family doctors doing it on the side!

If I am having it done I will pay and go to a professional who does it all of the time.

I agree, it seems to be easy money. Smile

I think for the eye doctors it would depend on the qualifications.

I knew a doctor that was a eye specialist, but also a eye surgeon, he also offered laser hair removal and his office, and was also doing a lot of eye surgeries that were to repair eye muscle problems.

This doctor, his office was quite nice (fancy coffee maker too with espresso Smile
But this doctor he also specialized in surgery of the face, but more like a eye specialist (had all the machines to test for eye diseases).

So, I think going to a doctor like that would be ok.
But I would not really want to go to a walk in medical clinic.

This doctor he was quite expensive though, and also does eye surgeries at the local hospital at a clinic there.

I know the local medical clinic chain here, I would not trust them with anything.
The doctors there are always rushed, and now they are not too knowing of even their own services.

I remember 2 years ago asking about orthotics s they had some ads in their waiting room.
I asked the doctor about the materials and process, and he did not know anything.
Then spoke to the "fitting technician" that was there 1 day a week, and he did not seem to know tons about the diffeent materials.

Medical clinics around here are only good if you already know what you have and tell the doctor what prescription to write (almost Laughing

I've had botox done by my friend who is a Nurse Practictioner, she does an amazing job.

I've also had it done by a medical assistant friend of mine who is very experienced, and she did a great job as well.

I think it all comes down to experience, and not the initials after the name.

Thankfully I only have to have it done once a year these days, as I'd be very broke and starving! Smile

I often hear that people get injections from nurses at their PS's office. I dont think there is anything wrong with that at all as these nurses do this all the time. I agree that lots of experience makes all the difference.

I'm unaware of anywhere but cosmetic clinics giving Botox here in Australia. However, I think if someone is qualified to take out my uterus or cap my teeth then they are probably capable of numbing a few muscles in my forehead!

However, fillers are slightly different because there is also an aesthetic component required, not just a medical one.

Botox and fillers are usually given by nurses here - and sometimes I'm concerned about how much training they've had.

I think that alot of plastic surgeons have their RN's do in office injectables. I personally like my PS to do it himself, one because he's more qualified and two because it's his name on the door. There are alot of RN's doing injectables without having a doctor on site and that is scarey!!
