Wow, very interesting. I would like to hear some other doctors opinions on this. I think it would be great if that is all that was needed. |

Me too, watching him apply that amount did seem like there was plenty to cover his whole face thoroughly. I wonder if that's why so many are finding the physical sun screens greasy and also leaving that white cast? |

I always value your opinions Dark Moon and Rileygirl! I know when I apply 1/4 teaspoon to my face it seems like an overload. No matter how much I rub it into my face it seems like there is a big layer sitting on top of my skin. But maybe that's how it's supposed to be. |

I always apply pea size amount because more than that breaks me out. I never feel greasy and my skin is not tanning so I am guessing its working? |

Nope I'm not going to do that, I use a pea sized amount just for one eye! I do *not* think he's protecting his entire face in that video. He didn't put *any* sunscreen around his eyes and I don't think he covered his whole face at all.
I think the thinking behind that video is it's better to have a small amount of good physical sunscreen than no physical sunscreen or some larger amount of chemical sunscreen. If it makes people more willing to switch to zinc oxide based sunscreen, then ok.
However where I am it's hot and I do outdoorsy activities where I'm exposed to a lot of sun and I'm sweating. I pick sunscreens that are easy to apply and have no white cast and then I *slather* them on. And if I get in the water or if it's so much sweating that I had to wipe my face then I reapply and slather it on again.
But- I do use that technique of depositing sunscreen (but I use globs instead of dots) in strategic places and then spreading it all over. I can apply sunscreen without the use of a mirror (and I have to do that in outdoorsy situations) and I know that I'm covered everywhere by feel and the amount of sunscreen I start out with. |

My personal take is that he is talking more for the average person who works in an office and does not get a lot of outside exposure. (I also don't apply the sunscreen around my eyes. I get underneath and to the sides but I don't put sunscreen on my lids.) However, I still would like to hear other doctors opinions on this and will stick to my 1/4 tsp on my face until there are more opinions.
I agree, and if I were going to be outside for an extended period of time doing anything, I would slather on the sunscreen and reapply if I was out longer than 2 hours. |

I don't apply a sunscreen, as such, to my face at all, because there is SPF in my foundation and face powder. I have incorporated a small amount of zinc to my pearl cream this summer. My face is fine for the small amount of times I'm out in the sun during the week. When I work outside, I put on a layer of Colorescience sunscreen and wear a hat. My face hasn't burned in a long, long time. |

I am leaning in the same direction Skippie, between the Sunscreen cream version and the colorescience orb then a layer of MMU which has both ZO and TD in it I feel very covered on the ss front even in the Florida sun! |
