I can confirm that any improvement showing in my pictures, posted on page 1 of this thread, are not down to the Slendertone use. I have long since given up using this horrid pinching & squishing device, which I now consider a waste of time - hands free yes, useless yes.

The Skindream Titanium must be responsible for the pouch improvement.

Keliu,

It would be interesting to see if you get similar results on your chest with your gadget - then we would know it's not how the gadget is manufactured as such, but more down to the fact that it's ultrasound + ionisation, AND/OR down to the products being used with the gadget.

Which brings me to my next point. I've been looking at the DIY thread, as I'd like to make my own gel. I'm currently mixing the Schick face gel with the medical gel, as per their directions, and applying this to my creaky knee (with some success, I might add!). However, at 79 pounds for 50ml of gel, it's getting a bit exhoribitant... I went through the first bottle in 2 weeks!! I've purchased another, but in the meantime I want to make my own version. I've not experimented with DIY yet, so if anyone has any pointers, please share! The face gel has:

Pos. Ingredients (INCI):
1 ALOE VERA (ALOE BARBADENSIS) LEAF JUICE
2 (BIO-) ALCOHOL
3 GLYCERIN
4 SODIUM HYALURONATE
5 XYLITYLGLUCOSIDE
6 ANHYDROXYLITOL
7 LEPIDIUM SATIVUM SPROUT EXTRACT
8 LECITHIN
9 INULA VISCOSA EXTRACT
10 XYLITOL
11 XANTHAN GUM
12 SODIUM ACRYLATES/C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER

Edit 1: Also, Keliu, I posted my treatment shedule a page or so back - I was/am being very aggressive with my treatments, treating the area twice per day, total time about 20 min which I read on a Fyola instruction webpage somewhere was the max time you should spend in a day.

Edit 2: I haven't been able to find any specs on the Fyola either. After looking at the youtube link posted earlier, I followed up on the company who posted that video -www.skinagain.com. There were several other videos made by them around 2009 featuring the Fyola, which they seemed to be marketing heavily. However, their website does not seem to offer the device anymore, only 2 ultrasound gels and a selection of treatment creams. I emailed them this morning to ask why they withdrew the Fyola after such aggressive marketing; still waiting on a reply. (Could it be that Schick purchased the rights for the device around that time? It would coincide with their marketing of their 'new' product in 2009...)

Sorry, dailyfighter, I am not making fun of your English, it's just the mental image of having cow feet instead of crows feet just cracked me up.

I must have a look at your gadget online, it sounds interesting...

Hi there i havent been on this thread for a while as i had stopped using the skindream as i had been using it a full year and never seen much change .I thought about selling it on ebay but felt i wouldnt make my money back so just kept it.I have now started to use again to give it another chance.I was wondering if anyone would no if it would be okay to use sbc collagen gel with it instead of the ultrasound gel.It has the same texture maybe a little lighter.I dont see how it would be any less effective as it is a gel.Any advice would be appreciated kind regards

I've used the SBC gels before and I think they're great. They're especially ionised for use with these types of devices.

I actually had the opposite effect - no results whatsoever from Skindream Titanium, but visible "youthening" of the face from Slendertone.

I also have excellent and visible results from "roller pin" (Lyapko massager) and Vacilifter (and similar massaging cups). Now the main thing is to find the time to use them....

Harrod's of London is supposed to have a sale on the SQOOM in December and January. Don't know exactly when but I signed up for the Harrod's email notice.

Does anyone know if the Euro gives us the most value for the US dollar. I'm not an international traveler and I'm pretty ignorant about the international markets so would appreciate any advice.

On the SQOOM website, they list retail partners in Brazil and other places. I assume it's available in Germany because that's where it's manufactured.

TIA,
Mary

I'm going crazy - wasted hours so far - looking for an alternative to the Sqoom hyagel. I tried to order the Skindream phytogel, but the website had this very bizarre method of having to download then upload an order form, and in the end it kept asking for a password which it had never created...

There seem to be a lot of reasonably priced US products, but the postage is ridiculous - sometimes 3 x the price of the gel.

I've looked at buying hyaluronic acid and trying to make my own gel, but now I'm not sure if it needs to be ionised.

I have found a scant few gels in the UK, but they all seem to have parabens of some sort...

Oh help - anyone got any ideas?

Here is the website for SBC. http://www.sbcgels.co.uk/gels_category.asp?catID=17 Do you know for a fact that they contain parabens? I though they were supposed to be "natural". Maybe you could email them on this point.

I regularly just use Aloe Vera Gel with my microcurrent and ultrasonic devices. I think that it's perfect acceptable. There are also gels put out by Rankines http://www.rankines.com/Canada/Galvanic-Gels-Canada/gels_canada.html but their postage rates are ludicrous.

If you look up conductive gels on Ebay you should also find something that suits.

Thanks Keliu

Well, I did ask a direct question to a reseller of Fyola and got this reply:

Quote:
I would suggest you purchase the Sqoom if you like the titanium head. The Fyola has a stainless steel head.

Although I specifically asked for the Fyola specs, my request was overlooked - twice.

Why on earth would they tell you to buy another product? As for the titanium head - does that justify the huge price difference? I wouldn't think so. As I alread said, my UP5 had a titanium head and that device was priced similarly to the Fyola. And the titanium all rubbed off with use!!!

This is all very odd. I'm not at all convinced that these devices aren't the same (except for the titanium head).

Incidentally, my UP5 died yesterday, I think the battery has given up and it won't charge up properly. I don't know whether I'll buy another one of these devices (got too many toys) but if I did, I think I'd just go for the Fyola.

Yes exactly!! Most of the larger companies have both high-end and low-end brands - that way they cover the whole marketing spectrum. For example, Bourjois is Chanel, Cover Girl is Max Factor etc etc.

I asked some questions about the SQOOM via email and I did ask the representative if I could share his email but he didn't respond so I take that as a 'yes' so here it is:

Good Morning Mary

The SQOOM takes part of the Harrods (London) sale in December and January.

For the US the easiest way to purchase a SQOOM is viawww.sqoom.com and than online shop as we don’t have a partner in the US.

On this website we also have a list of our partners. For example Lufthansa is selling the product, or SWISS Air. We also have a lot of pharmacies in Germany, there are also some online pharmacies, but I don’t know if they are delivering the product to the US.

You asked about Fyola. At first we are the exclusive distributor of :SQOOM device worldwide. Basic of :SQOOM concept is Fyola but :SQOOM has special configurations which has only :SQOOM and this make it much more expensive than Fyola.

Very important is the Titan head. Fyola has only a steel head. This is regarding allergic reactions very important and makes the device more expensive for us. Second is the battery. :SQOOM has a special accu on the highest technical level worldwide and it has RoHS (restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances. This accu works more than 4000 hours and has no memory effect.

But at all, :SQOOM concept is not the device. SQOOM is a brand for physical treatments. We also have the device :SQOOM clinical and next year we will have an additional one designed by Porsche and developed from Schick Medical.

But the main and unique System inside :SQOOM are the Gels. The Gels are creating the promised results. The device is only the transporter for the ingredients and the vendor for energy. :SQOOM is our world wide brand and this is made in Germany. We are awarded for the combination of energy and ingredients, in fact, for our complete treatments. Only the combination in whole brings the results and sustainability. This is important of all marketing point of views.

:SQOOM is unique and currently we spend a lot of money for further developments in Gels and own devices. The sustainability comes from the Gels and from the brand. Fyola is only a low quality device which is not in competition to :SQOOM at all. We sell :SQOOM also very successful with Lufthansa and online to the US Market. We have no problems with Fyola there and the customers order our Gels very well.

Building up a sustainable brand is expensive. We spent a lot of money in developing natural Gels with effective natural ingredients for a 100% save and effective treatment. Launching and building up a brand is expensive and there is no comparison to a device sold on an internet platform.

I hope I could answer your questions. If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thanks for sharing that info!

I'm still not convinced. Firstly they're saying the titanium head is only important because of allergies. And the only other difference is the battery - I can see why a better battery would be preferable though. But most of the info is concerned with the gels and how important they are to obtaining results.

I still don't understand why, if both devices are basically unrelated) they use the same marketing videos and material - and look identical.

I think gels are the only thing they can really differniate themsleves as gels have no real specs n stuff so they can say almost anything re how great their gels are. .. do they sell gels separately or do u have to Sqoom to buy the gels?

You buy the gels separately - you don't need the SQOOM.

As a dedicated spender of money on expensive products (Valmont, previously EL Renutriv etc), I can attest to the Sqoom gels being pretty good - good enough for me to repurchase... and I have NEVER used the products that came with a device, eg STOP after care cream, etc.

I just hate the price - it's one thing spending ££ on lovely textured, beautifully scented top of the range creams, but quite another to spend £79 on a 50ml tube of gel - which you have to wipe off afterwards.

But, I can't discount the results...(including those from using the OL medical gel).

The SQOOM people kindly sent me a sample of the aftercare cream, which is rather nice too.

ETA - I don't think the titanium head and battery are worth the extra ££, I think I'd just go for the Fyola myself if I had to do it all again...

So – as an avid lurker/reader of this forum for the last five years I have finally been coaxed out of my little shell. Looks like my first post is a bump!

Surely I am not the only one, desperate for an update on how the Skin Dream and/or Sqoom are performing? My finger hovers over the ‘buy it now’ button, but a distant sensible (boring) voice is saying ‘what if it doesn’t really work’, my other shopping angel voice says –‘but it is in the sale – what if it sells out?’ Oh the dilemma – someone help me.

I have Googled endlessly for more reviews – but there is nothing out there. The cheaper and probably every bit as good Fyola looks like a dead end, if I try adding it to my basket it just shows the basket as empty. Sigh.
So – me, 45, fair skinned, natural brunette, British born but now living in super hot and sunny Western Australia, a former smoker of 20 years. My skin is surprisingly reasonable given the abuse it has lived through – lots of lines, but 95% are smile lines around eyes and mouth, a few frown lines on one side of my forehead, some sagging – but hey that’s life. I look my age, and am ok with that – not even trying to keep my beauty – I was sadly never one of those, what I do want is to look good for my age. I guess most folk on this forum will know exactly what I mean.

I hate the lines around my neck and on my chest – though the dermaroller has definitely improved those. Horror of horror though, I am getting wrinkles on my knees. I wonder will the Sqoom help with those. Much like Karen, I have put a concerted effort into caring for my face, but have neglected other areas. I would of course be very happy to improve lines and sagging and texture of my face.

Yours in anticipation

Not a bump this time – but a heads up re the Harrods Sale, if you sign up and become a Rewards member, they are giving an extra10% off the sale price – but the extra discount ends today

I have just placed my order for the Sqoom from Harrods – With 10% off in the sale, and a further 10% off over the New Year weekend, I figured I would regret not placing the order. The good news is for non EU deliveries, there is also an additional saving at checkout with no VAT payable which is another 20% saving. All in all, even with postage, my unit is costing me £382 or about $600 AUD. Still an awful lot of money – but if it lasts many years and makes a difference, it will be worth the hefty investment.

I also have a frozen shoulder/damaged rotator cuff so will be eager to try the unit on that too.

I have plenty of before pictures – taken to see if any of the other gadgets. Gizmos’s and potions have worked, so if I get any significant results I will happily post them.

I have a ‘gel’ question. As a super cynic and all round ‘careful with my money’ type how much of the Sqoom Gel is marketing hype? I can’t help feeling that the Sqoom itself as a one off item won’t make them a huge profit, but the gels are expensive for such small bottles and they sound like they are made mostly from water/aloe gel. Would regular ultrasound gel do the same job? How about adding to medical grade ultrasound gel some of the many goodies I have in my arsenal from Skin Actives such as MAP or COQ10.

Could I use SKB Ultramarine as a conductive gel – or mixed with the supplied conductive gel to make it go further. The pain gel they sell, what about the idea of substituting that with Nurofen Gel instead if treating a small area?

Any thoughts anyone?
