Ok so I just stated using the MD formulations 12% glycolic acid cleanser. I've been trying to get rid of my acne scars for so long and I've tried everything! I was convinced that this product would work because its 12% acid and the closest thing I've used to to that is 4% benezoyl peroxide, and I tried 6% hyrogen peroxide too but neither of them helped. Anyway I've been using the product for 2 weeks and it seems to be making things worse... my face is a lot oilier than usual and whiteheads are poping up everywhere which isn't normal for me.it says on the packaging that you should rub it into your skin and then wash it off straight away but that seems like a waste to me so I'm putting it on after I shower(when my pores are open) and just leaving it to be absorbed... I've been told to use it twice a day. What am I doing wrong? HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! Bad Grin

Sounds like this cleanser is too harsh for your skin. BP & HP are not really helpful in fading acne scars (dark marks). If you want to use an AHA product I think you are better to get a leave on product. AHA in a cleanser provides little benefit IMO because it does not remain on the skin.

What would you recommend then for fading scars?

Well, it could be that you are trying to use a cleanser as a leave-on product. There are ingredients in cleansers that are meant to be removed rather than left on. MD makes some good leave-ons. I used to use MD Forte Glycare which is for oily skin. They have products for normal/dry skin. I quit only because I have an issue with some redness on my cheeks along with broken capillaries and I thought maybe the glycolic acid might be exacerbating it.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I think laser treatments are the best for scarring. If you don't want to go that route, then maybe microdermabrasion might help some.

I find AHA effective for fading acne marks. 2 brands that I think are good are Paula's Choice and Alpha Hydrox.
