I have a question for you hair color gurus. Can you use 20 volume developer to lighten your base color by one shade all by itself....or does it have to be mixed with some other lightening agent like bleach??
What would happen if you put the developer on by itself?? Thanks! |

Peroxide alone can lift hair color a bit just like lemon juice in the sun, it's not something that I have ever seen professionally done it was all the rage back when I was in my teens though. |

Thanks Dark Moon...you are always so helpful.
I have 2 more weeks till my next highlight appt so just wanted something to take the edge off the contrast between growing out roots and where highlights start. I have tried the professional root cover ups but they lighten too much and leave me with the dreaded orange tones. (I like the contrast of my base color mixed with highlights)!
Okay, so the results were: tried 20 vol. alone for 30 minutes, but it didn't do enough...so mixed Kaleidoscope bleach from Sally's with 20 vol. and left it for maybe 2 min...probably could have gone a little longer, but am overall happy with results. I can now make it 2 more weeks without cringing every time I look in the mirror!
Thanks again! |
