I'm soooo close to going for it and making the one of the very simple vitamin C serums that has been so generously posted on this amazing site.
Is it as equally effective in cream form? If so, can I add the vitamin ingredients to an existing moisturizer that I'm used for awhile? Or would that not be as effective?
Thanks so much for your help |

You'd have to use it fast....and keep the PH below 3.0.
Personally, I wouldn't bother.
Slather on serum, wait 20 mins to an hour...slap on sunscreen.
Vitamin C breaks down really fast in anything over PH 3, and really fast over Ph 5 and light, air and heat further speed the degeneration of Vit C. Then it becomes Pro oxidant...and toss it, preferably before that point.
KISS principal applies to Vit C.
Your call though...can always try it for the heck of it and see how it goes. |

In the past I used to add a pinch of C to moisturizer per application, but now I find it's much easier to use it in a nice serum form and not have that extra hassle to deal with. |

I agree with Dark Moon... I like using them in serum form. It's like using toner but in a more concentrated form so it's quick and easy. |

O.k. - I've gotten all the ingrediants to make the vitamin C serum - just one thing - I bought some vitamin E oil from Mountain Rose Herbs - on the back label it notes: "this oil contains 7,500 I.U. per ounce. Avoid undiluted contact with the skin." Should I have just gotten the cheap stuff that contains other oils instead - this sounds kind of ominous - I have pretty sensitive skin - any advice? Can I just go ahead and use it in the recipes posted here on this amazing site? |

Sally I have the same stuff from Mountain Rose Herbs. I really love that place! I made my first serum a week ago. I used a bit too much vitamin E in my serum but it works well and i've had no issues. Kassy suggested I keep it under 1/8 teaspoon for the 1 oz recipe. So next time I think I will actually only use just a few drops. You don't need much and MRH vitamin E oil is a very high quality, potent oil. |
