We've had some requests to start a pet thread, and we ALL know that I LOOOOVE to talk about my cats!
So I am kicking off a new thread dedicated to everyone's furkids (or featherkids, or fishkids, etc.), so please feel free to post your own so we can all enjoy their antics! |

Many people know that I have a cat * spam alert *. I live alone, work at home, and love nothing more than to be surrounded by my 6 (yes, SIX ) wonderful cats. My profile pic on Facebook is the Simpson's Crazy Cat Lady and I am proud of that label.
You'll see that my cats are all purebreds, but please know that some are rescues! I also volunteer at a no-kill pet shelter by updating their Facebook page, population sheet, adoption statistics, and will soon be writing grant requests (this stuff takes far more time than you would think!). Plus I also donate heavily to pet related charities to make sure that ALL pets are supported by me, and I have personally rescued (and paid all expenses) for 9 cats in my neighborhood to be medically cared for, spayed/neutered, and adopted. So please no lectures on purebreds vs. homeless pets...I definitely do my part and then some!
Now on to my cast of characters....I am going to post one at a time because frankly it's 2am and I have to get up in 6 hours.
Marmalade is a 14 y/o Flame Point Himilayan and is a cat I "acquired" (ok, stole) from my neighbor who was severely neglecting him and his special needs. He has an auto-immune issue, allergies to fleas, grains, etc., AND is diabetic (insulin 2x a day). But he is one of the best cats I have ever had, and the theft (and aftermath) was totally worth it.

Before I head to bed, I just had to post a series of shots called "Domestic Marmalade"...you'll see exactly how well I have done at training him to help out around the house. And based on the pics, is it really any surprise that he is MALE?
Marmalade folding warm clothes right out of the dryer!
Marmalade ironing!
Marmalade cleaning the bathroom sink!
Marmalade putting away his toys!
I know, I know...I am quite the pet trainer!
Ok..I am off to bed. Tomorrow I'll share pics of Lily, a rescue from a diseased cattery. Night!
PS....please add your own pet pics! |

Great Bethany!
I can live and live vicariously through all your fur/feather/fish babies! The last 2 1/2 years I have been without any of my own and can't get any until I sell and move so I will relish everyone's precious babies! |

Awwwwwww!!!!!!!! Bethany, that is so incredibly cute & funny. I literaly did laugh out loud. What an ever so handsome boy!!
Something tells me this is going to be a very popular thread!!
It's really is so bizarre how much we have in common Bethany, I also have a Himalayan that I rescued. I don't have 6 cats (wow!) but I have 3. I also have the 'crazy cat lady' tag and often joke to my friends if they ask me what I'm doing on the weekend, to just come by, they'll catch me out the front of my house speaking jibberish and hurling cats at passer-bys.
My Maxy in the garden
Check out those whiskers!
Hehehe
He like to sleep with his feet up in the air
little Muppet!
He loves to do this!
There was an add in the paper to take Max as his owners travelled around and often left him at home for weeks on end, with just someone to come and feed him once a day. It breaks my heart to think he spent the first 4-5 years of his life like that, because knowing this cat he needs attention all day and needs to know where you are always - then he is happy.
I am so glad he came to me apparently there were numerous others who rang to take him - but my son and I were chosen and I believe we were the best choice. He was difficult to win over at first, but I've loved him to death and he just couldn't resist all of that mollycoddling in the end, being as needy as he is.
He's a very gentle boy, but very cheeky and loves to chat to me all day long. He has his inquisitive meow, to ask where I am in the house, his playful meow to tell me its time to get a bit rowdy and various others. So sweet!! |

Hi again, very sorry that my post took up so much space on this thread. It's the first time I've uploaded an image onto a post and didn't mean for the pics to come out so GIGANTIC!! Please forgive. |

Maxy is just BEAUTIFUL!!!! Absolutely gorgeous and I can just tell he is full of character!
BTW, the pic of him on his back is a very familar pose for Marmalade....I refer to it as his "roadkill" pose! |

I'm a cat lover and am glad for this thread - love to see everyone's pets! All these furballs remind me of a similiar one I recieved as a gift at 9 YO. I have a short haired black one now (was my then 9 YO's request for a family pet - he's now 22). She never poses for me like Max, Marmalade and Cashmere (they're adorable!!). If I can find a pic, I'll post it. |

It's easy to make your pics fit the page - try using a free download for that: easy thumbnails

Max obviously goes to the same hairdresser as me with those insane whiskers - looks just like my hair!
And Cashmere is very well named - that fur looks irresistibly strokable.
Both are gorgeous, gorgeous pusscats! |

bethany, I love your cat! The picture in the swimming tube is so funny! My husband loved it also.
I am not a cat lover, but last year, this cat decided to walk into our lives & my husband begged me that we need to keep her and she needs us. She found us when we were high up in Northern Ontario...someone dumped a pregnant cat, she had her kittens, they were found and given homes and the "mother cat" found us. Just last weekend, she met one of her kittens for the first time and it was so precious!
I think our cat loves me more, because she sleep mostly with me and she always lick my face or some other body part. I find it annoying, but she just continues to purr. lol
I also don't like the hair all over the place. I have this strict rule that she not allowed in my new walk-in closet. That is my private serenity spot.
I don't know how to post pictures on EDS and would love to show my little baby. |

Thanks Beth, he’s such a sweetheart! Interesting the first one of Marmalade in the clothes is so like Max as well. I wear a lot of black, so always seem to have these gigantic Himalayan hairs stuck to me – bit embarrassing! I honestly don’t know how you find time to do anything as they’re so needy of individual attention and then there’s that endless grooming.
Max hates it when I brush him – hence the slightly dishevelled appearance - , but he will let me lay him flat on his back between my legs on the floor and search for fleas.
Hahaha, your little Cashmere is adorable! Aren’t they the funniest when you have to shave them through the summer. They look like little sunflowers.
