Hi! I am new to diy skin care and have a very dumb question. Is it ok to use HA and DMAE supplements that you get from the pharmacy in the serums or creams or do I have to purchase them online?

IMHO Only supplements that are 100% pure without fillers can be used in DIY skincare.  |

Welcome, and not a dumb question at all.
I started trying out a vit. C serum using what I took orally, but it didn't do much, the ingredients of the oral form also included sodium bicarbonate, aspartame, etc... and they all seemed to interfere in the skin actually absorbing anything. As for HA, the ones I've tried internally also have cellulose, etc...
So I just mean they are not the straight ingredients, but mixed with something else to take internally, which usually interferes in the actual skin benefiting when directly applied.

| I have found pure ascorbic acid powder that has no fillers and isn't in a pill or capsule that worked beautifully, vitamin E which only has gelatin and glycerin to form the capsule, inside is pure E oil only. Pure liquid vitamin E oil at my health food store and liquid lecithin there also, those all have been problem free in my concoctions. |

| Thanks for the replies .... Actually I found this HA supplement at Walmart that is 20 mg HA and 60mg ascorbic acid(not L-ascorbic) The rest is rice powder, gelatin, silica and magnesium stearate. So I was wondering if I cud just use that instead of ordering it online. But I guess I wud be wasting my time and money if I do that. |
