I am wondering if I really need to use the obagi nu derm blender with the tretinoin 0.1% or if I can use the tretinoin without the blender.

I have been on obagi new derm for almost two years, now on maintenance.

Your comments are much appreciated, maybe you know the answer to this question or you have tried this before (I haven't).

Thank you

Hi azaleas. How is your skin doing on maintenance, and has your hyperpigmentation stayed gone? My guess would be if you are doing well, you could certainly try to drop the Blender and see how your skin does without it, but definitely keep on with the Retin A. Are you using the Clear a few times a week while on maintenance?

hi

thanks for the responses

I love obagi and my skin is doing great.

I do have to stay on maintenance otherwise it reverts back to what it was.

It has done wonder for the hyperpigmentation. Of course, so long that I continue to use it.

I do use clear a few times a week, sometimes everday unless my skin starts to get too pale, which is not the best look in summer, I don't mind it in winter.

I don't use the products much in summer, but I try to use them as much as possible in winter. I don't use them a lot in summer because I don't like putting a lot of sunscreen, so I don't want to do this obagi and be exposed to the sun with just the low spf sunscreen I use, I don't like sunscreens and they irritate my eyes, though I know i need to use them.

I get a prescription for the stieva-A Forte 0.1% tretinoin 0.1% from my family doctor.

Last time I got the 45g tube for I think $33 (or 36, I can't remember for sure, but I think it was $33).

I had a couple of family doctors prescribe it a few times as I moved a couple of times, they don't have a problem with that.

Sounds like your skin is doing great on maintenance and that you have found a routine that works very well for you. Very Happy

hi

my routine is very simple now that I am on maintenance.

I said before that is I don't do maintenance my skin reverts back to it's old self. True but the good thing is that as soon as I start on the products again, it only takes days for it to glow again, fine wrinkles smooth out, and hyperpigmentation fades.

I did the obagi for at least six months as recommended when I first started.

Now I do the regular face wash in the shower (often shower twice a day), and then use the toner (I am happy with withhazels which I used for the last year), then I put on some clear fx, let it dry some for some 5 minutes, if in the morning then I put on some dove moisturiser with low spf of just 15 (I can't tolerate higher, I've tried). If night time, then I put on some tritonin mixed with some blender, after the face wash, toner, and some more clear fx (I love clear fx). I am now running out of blender and hence this post as I am not sure that i need to get some more or just use the tretonin on its own, I will try that and see how it goes.

I didn't finish my last post as when I type too many pragraphs I can't see what I am typing anymore, the box is not big enough I guess.

Anyway, effexoderm forte is my favorite obagi nu derm product, although I like clear fx a lot too.

But I don't use effexoderm all the time, I did for the first six months, but now I don't need as much of it. If I use tritonin at night, then I sure use effexoderm in the morning after the clear fx. And I skip the sunscreen. Yes I know this is very bad, so I don't use it in the summer, I try to avoid it on sunny days, and if I use it I try to stay indoors as much as possible, which my current lifestly allow for.

I want to do an intense week of tritonin and effexoderm, probably next week (I have to adjust this around my schedule).

Thanks, Azaleas! I appreciate you sharing your routine. I must admit that I've been a bit neglectful with my maintenance, and I can also tell a difference. My skin just doesn't look as good.

Soooo, I'm getting back on the wagon!

kims, me too.

it was easier when i was on the program but now on maintenance I just don't have the same discipline, particularly during summer when i don't want to use it as much.
