Have any of you seen an expiration date on a commercial brand of Vitamin C serum?
If so, please let us know which brand and/or formula.
Thanks, BF |

LRP has expiration dates on their formulas, as well as Environ. Those are the only 2 I have personally seen. |

You do bring up a good point. Since C serums are so sensitive they really should have a clear expiration date on them.
The only brand I've seen expiration dates on are from PSF. Garden of wisdom tells you to use within 45 or 60 days, depending on which c serum you buy.
I think most brands are committed to "its fine no matter what color the serum turns". |

Most of the vitamin c serum that I know state only the preservation period after opening but rarely an expiration date.
Barefootgirl, I have seen (I'm a long time lurker of EDS ) in the DIY sub forum that you make a breezy eezy c serum by mixing LAA, distilled water and some GoW base gel. Do you still do this? How was the result?
I'm just curious if it works because I've just started the similar DIY since 2 weeks. |

I have never seen a label that gives a preservation period - please let us know the name of the brands!
I no longer make my own C serum... I use Skinmedica and don't really believe C to be the major player in my regimen - although I believe it to be helpful- I just don't want to fuss with something that I think is marginal.

I've used Cellex C, and Vivier and both clearly indicate expiry date and I find Vivier expire date holds its promise, where on other brands, it expires before the expiry date. |

The Vivier i got recently states only the lot no.
My previous bottle has both the lot no. and expiry date. |

Skincare - all of my Vivier are from EDS too. My current one was purchased around June/July. |

I would talk to EDS, then Vivier company |

Skincare - it doesn't really matter to me as I don't buy a few bottles to stock up at any one time. I would be more concerned with the constant opening/dispensing that may subject the C to degradation. Which is why I am using Vivier with its stability claims. |

I've been thinking about this and maybe the expiry date is on the box? |

Skincare - nope, the current box also states only the lot no. Maybe they decided to change?
Barefootgirl really got me thinking with this thread. |

To my knowledge, skin care products from France have a label of preservation period after opening. It is a symbol of a pot with an opening lid; a text consisting of a number followed by the letter "M" is indicate within the pot (eg. 6M means 6 months).
You could see this label on most if not all French drugstore and institute brands like LRP, Avene, Yonka, etc. I know that some Belgian and German brands do the same thing. This label has certain exception rules but I don't remember what they're exactly.
Expiry dates are often provided only on organic brands in Europe. Some drugstores brands also state them but not very often at all.
ps: I've just started C serum since early this month, will see what it yields in 3 months. I'm pretty lazy as DIY person but not willing to spend too much on commercial C serums with high oxydation risk neither! |

Most of the Vitamin c serum has expiry dates. I would not use these when they are expired, because it means they are not effective anymore. Once the liquid turns kinda very light brown, it means it is expired. The serum won't be effective at all... |

This is an interesting issue, but I have decided to mitigate problems by using oil based C serums - my wallet will thank me!
