| I've been using NCN's retinol and cp for a few months and have been putting cp on first and let it sit for a couple of minutes then put the retinol then moisturizer. Her instructions say cp first but I read somewhere on here to put retinol first. Does it really matter? |

If you've got the CP SERUM, then you should probably put that on first since it's a water based product. the general rule of order of applying products is:
water based products
serum based
gel based
cream based
The thinner the product - the easier it is for it to be absorbed into your skin, so that should go first.
Otherwise - pH of products should be considered. The lower the pH - then that would be the first to go on (with a wait time).
I've actually done it both ways: Retinoid first (I use that instead of a retinol, but the same principle applies) and then waited for it to do its job - about 45 minutes. Then I applied my CP Serum. I had great results this way.
Lately I've been applying the CP first, then a retinoid.
You can try either way and see which one works for you. But I'd let the retinol product rest for a while before applying the CPs so it can do it's job. You probably only need to wait about 10 minutes if you apply the CP first since it's a water based product and absorbs pretty fast. If it's a cream based CP, I'd do the retinol first. |
