Right now I'm embarking on a new business venture. Starting something new and fresh and it is nothing but hard work. It has been invigorating and very satisfying. Something about actually mapping out and achieving a goal solely is empowering.
I have read that most people have three careers in their lives these days. Gone are the..."I do this" for a lifetime, days.
To change careers or go back to school midlife or late life is a wonderful choice. Brave -- really -- because it is tempting to use age as an excuse that it is too late...but it is not.
We all talk about staying young on this forum. It goes far beyond skincare. keeping passion in your life is key to vitality. And that means love what you're doing and learning new things; which is not just for those chronologically young.
Go for it!!! and good luck. |

I just made a huge career change - and it was the best decision that I ever made.
I worked for about 15 years at the same company and it was absolutely the most challenging and rewarding time of my life. Sometimes the job was so hard, I would wake up in tears. I was stretched to my limits - having to do things that I never thought I would be able to do. This challenge had such a profound effect on me - I am stronger for it and thank god everyday I had to go through it. But after 15 years working 60 hours a week and always on "call" - I had to put my life first. I also came to the point where I had mastered the position and I was bored. Stagnation is my biggest fear in life.
So, I took a leap and left this very lucrative position to pursue a passion I had ignored for a long time... art. People thought I was crazy to leave without a "job" lined up, but I had to trust that the universe would take care of me.
And it has- believe me, money is tight but I am so happy. But I am living.
May I share one of my favorite quotes from Gilda Radner: "Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next... delicious ambiguity!"
Live life with no regrets.
Good luck! |

CHANGE - is what i do all my life.
I move to a new country every 10 years So far twice. Each time new language, new continent.
I change careers even more often. I started as a computer programmer. But i've got bored after 5 years and opened with my husband an internet company.
5 years later we moved to telecommunication. So i've become a telecommunication switch manager. Company i worked for went bankrupt - so we opened our own to continue with telecommunication.
Now i am thinking how to get rid of this company to start another career. I would like to open a medical office.
Speaking of medical office. My friend (engineer) at her 40s decided she wants to become a nurse. She is getting RN next winter.
Opposite example. My husband's cousin (cardiologist). After 10 years of working, moving to another country, confirming his license and working again - decided to become a programmer. He finished a course and happily working as a programmer for the last 12 years.
CHANGE - is the only thing that saves us from degradation. People are lazy. I know i am |
