Does anyone know how to become a product tester for new skin care products? I know products are tested on people before they are marketed and thought this might be a fun way to get free products and learn about cutting edge products.

Hi I'm not sure where you are based but I'm in the UK and I test for a company called Ayton-Moon, you need to register atwww.cosmeticresearchonline.co.uk I didn't get my first trial until about 3 months after I registered but I tend to get a couple of trials a month now. I've also tested for the Beauty Bible, I had to pay £20 for that however the products I got were worth over £150. |

Is it called a Mystery Shopper? |

I believe mystery shoppers are people who go into stores disguised as regular customers in order to rate how the employees behave. |

Ayton-Moon are not a mystery shopper company they're employeed by cosmetic companies to have their products tested by the general public. All products you test have already gone through safety tests etc but they now want a public opinion of their product. For example a couple of weeks a go I was testing facial wipes I was given 2 differnet packets and asked to compare them for smell, thickness effectiveness etc I've had some really nice products to test however you don't usually know the make of the product your testing so I've not been able to go out and buy the products as they usually come in clear or white packaging there's the odd exception to this where you're actually asked to comment on the packaging too. |

I would think that -- at least in the U.S. -- you'd want to get in touch with marketing researchers as they are typically the ones in charge of 'independent' product testing for marketing demographics....
This isn't quite the same, but on the radio lately I've been hearing ads about becoming an official "mystery shopper." Apparently you get paid to buy clothes, skincare/beauty stuff, eat in high-end restaurants, etc., AND you also get to keep all of the merchandise that you bought! It sounds too good to be true, but you might want to google it to see if it's kosher. And I know that they mentioned that they're needing these mystery shoppers nationwide.... |
