Hello, I am a 34year old male. For the past 7 years or so i have had a pimple/zit that will not go away. Its located on my chin, has no visible head, and no discoloration. When pushing on the spot, it feels deep in the skin, crunchy feeling and kinda rolls around under the skin. If i apply a little pressure ( like trying to pop a regular zit), white "soft" puss will exude from the area. After the puss is out, the area will exude yellowish liquid for about 10 hours, then dry up. After the first time i popped (it didn't have a head nor till this day does), i didn't mess with it for about 3 years hoping it would would go away. Tried to pop it again only ending up having the same result.
Fast foward to present day, still have the crunchy feeling object under my skin, no head, but yet can still extract small amounts of white puss, and yellow liquid. It does not hurt, nor does it show any visible appearance of being there. I have yet to visit the dermatologist in hope that it would just dry up and go away, but yet to have any luck with that. Any suggestions to what it may be or to remedy this problem would be greatly appreciated. thanks |

That does not sound like a zit. It sounds like a cyst or abcess, especially if it has been on your skin for years and shows no signs of healing. You need to see a Dr about it. |

I agree with Notme. Normally a zit does not last for 7 years and at this point you should visit a doctor to have he or she take a look at it. They can probably drain it for you too. |

I agree, 7 years is a long time you should have it checked out by a medical pro. |

I had something similar happen to me. I'm telling you, get this checked out. When I went to the doctor for mine it was for the same reason The pimple just felt different and was persistant. It seemed like the thing just kept coming back. The doctor took a sample said it was precancerous and sent me to a plastic surgeon for removal. Now I have a flat smooth scar where it used to be it used to be pink but has faded to match the rest of my skin and is barely noticable years later. |

Sounds like a cyst - even though you squeeze them, the little sack in the pore always fills up again. You need to have it properly dealt with - go see a doctor about it. |

How did you get this removed? Shave excision or excision? |

I agree it sounds like a cyst. I have one too. I asked a couple of dermatologists about it and they said they could remove it but it would more than likely grow back. If I were you I would definately get it checked out to be sure it isn't anything worse. |

I don't expect an answer as Mysterious made the one and only post back in October and hasn't been heard from since? |

The best way to treat pimples is to follow a strict skincare regime every day. Cleansing your face two/ three times a day with appropriate for your skin type products is crucial. There are many specialized acne cleansers and creams containing benzyl peroxide, glycolic acid and glycerin that cleanse your skin in deep and dry out the pimples. Benzyl peroxide is a mild drying and peeling agent which is thought to help keep pores from clogging. |

Benzoyl Peroxide is proven to kill the bacteria that causes acne. Its considered a gold standard by dermatologists. However I will note that it doesn't mean it right/effective for everyone. |
