Hi all, this is my first post after several months of lurking. I have already learned so much from everyone here, so thank you.
It seems to me that it would be very easy to spend a lot of money on all the gadgets, lotions, books, etc. My question is this: does anyone here have a set amount of money they put aside each week/month/year for the purpose of buying all of the goodies we hear so much about? If so, how much do you allow yourself to spend? Do you break it out into ongoing expenses (i.e. retin-a, creams/lotions) vs one-time expenses (tools, gizmos, cosmetic procedures)? |

I spend what I have "left over" each month. Not always on beauty stuff ofcourse. I pay my bills, put the most of the money after that into my savings account, and see to that I can by food for the hole month.
And if it is a good month - I purchase anything I want for the money I have "over". So at least one order from EDS per month. For about 200CAD, so I can get the free shipping to Sweden.
I haven't gotten into any gadgets yet..
I might save up for a hair removal device.. |

I actually come here to save money. I too lurk and read to figure out what is really working for other women. I do this so I can buy online what seems works and do it myself at home.
With the economy so bad, that gone are the days of going to day spas for laser treatments. After my extensive reading here..I invested about $150 in products that seem to have a good track record.
I'm into my fourth week of using them...and plan to post in about another month as to if they worked or not. Right now..I think they are working. Again...I've read so many posts about hopeful initial results that are not conclusive..that I won't do that to you here. |

Great point hotdocgirl - before trying any product or ingredient for DIY - I search here. I really appreciate the honest feedback and it has prevented me from throwing money away on products that do not work.
As Vanilj does, I see what I have left over for the month. |

It seems like everything I have I have spent on my face.
However, it seems since my acne is better that I have to spend less.
My favorite thing about the Lightstim is that it really relaxes me.
I really save up for the big procedures like laser resurfacing. |

I have some money each month moved into a separate account. My DH and I both do this ... it is our 'fun' money that you can do whatever with and not feel guilty. With my KH discovery, most of my fun money has now been spent !! |

I spend %500-%700 each year for only the expansive skincare products. I think i can bear it because i love skincare more than clothes, make up. |

I don't have a set budget. I spend what I need to in order to achieve the results I desire. |

Hi, I am new here too. I tried to spend 10% of my monthly income, but I always lose control...
That's why I started to order online, but reading all the posts about recommending staff. I just want to buy more...
Oh, my BUDGET... |

OMG - that is me EXACTLY. I did that with the KH products .... tried 2 and then 'needed' them all. |

haha, yes, order on line is more cheaper than in the shop, the same products. Order on EDS can also cheaper, because they also have some discount for the member of the forum. |

My husband likes to think I do. LOL
I don't have a budget, but I don't buy like crazy either. How much I spend on skincare depends on how many hours I worked that month
November is a bad month. |

Are any of you like me? I look at all the stuff I have and think.."make this work...something new isn't going to be different." Like right now I'm not even half way through Skin Biology CP serum and I think I need to upgrade to the Skin Signals cream..thinking that may do more!
My common sense side says..just use up what you've got and see where you are. But I'm really thinking I may buy the SS! I'm crazy. lol |

I spent more than $2000 this year on skincare. It's scary because except a valmont cream I bought here last month, the most expensive product I bought is la mer cream! I'll have to plan well and get a better bang for my buck... |

On average about $100 a month each on cosmetics and skincare. Not so much due to neccessity but because I like trying out new products. It doesn't help that there are warehouse sales every 2-3 months where all the ladies will start hauling. If it weren't for the sales, the cost of the items I buy would probably be about 4x more |

Yes, I've been trying really hard to use up the stuff I have. I have a lot of stuff that is only partially used. My new motto has been to "use up two and then get a new one!". Unfortunately...I'm not always successful at following it...
I'm particularly bad about sunscreen - lots of little half used tubes laying around. And yes, I do chuck 'em after the expiration date.
There's always the allure that something new will be better! |

I am terrible with money, especially considering I am a student!
I have tried being careful with my money and have become better with it.. before I used to go to the drug stores (the big ones - like Boots and Superdrug) and spend spend spend looking for the answer to beautiful skin in a bottle.. well I didn't find it and so I've now come online to learn about skin care. I used to go on youtube and watch reviews there, but honestly, unless you know what you are looking for and use the right search terms, you could end up watching reviews on commercial products and never hear about the more specialised/better stuff... which I've been delighted to discover here! Before discovering EDS there was a 20% sale at Body Shop. I had planned to get the Vitamin C stuff but the sales assistant convinced me to buy the seaweed brand... which I must say I dislike completely! I've been good and have tried the products for one month now and still dislike it... so that (in my mind) qualifies me to go ahead and purchase the next possible cure!
This month's shopping list includes a LA peel, glycolic acid night cream and vit C moisturiser... cost me about £40.. which I think isn't bad if it does the job.. and if it works I won't have to repurchase for atleast a good few months.. so all in all, its not too bad right?
Oh I did splash out on a Clarisonic the other month.. must admit its not a complete necessity, but I sure do feel better when I see it sitting in its cradle charging away |

I decided in my late 30s that my skin needed a boost and Botox wasn't in my budget so based mostly on what I read on these boards I decided to go for a diy facelift. My favorite products are the Tua Viso/Tua Trend and copper peptides.I bought the Nuface first because it had been written about in s many magazines and thought it would make a big difference. I would not be happy with my skin if I hadn't bought a few gadgets and based on what I've read all the celebs are using a few and going to facialists, etc. I've spent more on my skin the last few years but am only spending about $100 a month, sometimes more, sometimes less. |
