I had bleph surgery at the end of September. My incisions have healed quite nicely and the discolouration on my eyelids continues to improve; however, I still wanted something to conceal it. I tried using concealer on my eyelids; it only ran into my eyes (tried several brands). I used Lemonaid (Benefit); it worked better than concealer, but didn't last that long.
I found an amazing cosmetician with Bobbi Brown. She recommended using the cream eye shadow in "Shore" (colour) as my base. It is totally neutral. You wouldn't even know I had a colour on my eyelid, but you don't see any discolouration and my scars are almost non-existent. It is non-irritating, even for my sensitive eyes. I HIGHLY recommend it. I use have used some of the powder shadows over it as well as other cream shadows. It provides an excellent base. The coverage is amazing; it lasts all day. |

For cream shadows, can I apply layers of different colour?? Will it become to greasy comparing with powder shadows? |

Hi Katy,
You can definitely layer the colours. I can't say how it works with other shadows, because I've only used BB shadows with them. I've layered other cream shadows as well as powder shadows on top; they were NOT greasy at all. The cream shadow dries and feel like a powder. It is really long lasting. I wasn't a fan of cream shadows. I always found that they creased or ran. This one doesn't do that at all.
Because I'm using shore as a base/concealer, I always apply something over it. I've used a powder and then a another cream in my crease ... and I've also used one powder, followed by a darker powder in my crease. All have stayed put - no creases and no greasiness.
If the BB cosmetician hadn't recommended, I would never have tried it. She was right though !! |

@ Katy
I tried using an extra Bobbi Brown cream shadow today. I used the cream Bobbi Brown shadow in shore as my concealer/base. It completely neutralizes my red lids (from bleph surgery).
I used BB powder shadow in "Cement" all over my eye lid, up to my eyebrow. I then used BB Black Pearl (cream shadow) on my lid and crease. It is a cool colour - purple, grey mauve with shimmer. It looks great.
The only thing I don't like about using the cream shadow over either another cream or the powder is that I don't find it goes on as easily as the first cream shadow does. When I apply shore, it spreads easily and stays put. The cement (powder) colour went on easily as well. When I apply the Black Pearl, it looks fine, but it just feels a little more 'grabby' when I'm applying it. If I applied it with my fingers, it may not have done that. I always apply my shadows (powder & cream) with a brush. BB has a nice cream shadow brush that I really like to use. |
